After both of us missing out last season what are the chances of both kiwi based teams being in the playoffs this time round? Would put anyone who finishes below us to shame :p

You're a good shot, jabba. At the moment heef would be battling for 6th-12th but with injuries depth does matter so it depends how you guys draft later

    8 make the playoffs right?

Anyone I beat should be thoroughly ashamed.

    Checking in.

Can honestly see Jabba's team being a success. Good balance around the ground. If he drafts well in the latter stages of the draft and gets some good depth, he'll be a force for sure.

Last season I had 4 problems, average tall defenders, very bad small defenders, no 30 disposal mids and exceptionally bad depth. Through my forward line we managed to finish 9th.

The progression of Dunn and McDonald aswell as drafting some quality small defenders early has hopefully solved my defensive issues. Not going to get that high 20s+ disposal mid which could prove to be the downfall.

Nah, we're doing divisions. Div 1 and Div 2. You're in div 1 as you finished 9th.

Yeah, from what I can tell you've improved your SD's a fair bit. Obviously you have the 2 great KPF's, plus your SF's are very good, your midfield isn't extremely shabby (good midfield depth as a whole), and your KPD's are good. Lobbe is also a solid ruck. Can't see too many flaws tbh.

Interesting, I will have a look later for where you explained all this

It was never officially announced but I strongly implied it was gonna happen. I think the discussion was near grand final time between nino and I. I'll dig it up.

What you've done is you've essentially downgraded your small forwards to improve your defence. And I really like that, you didn't need production out of your SFs as you get that out of Franklin and Roughead. I'd almost say you needed SFs less as Franklin, Goodes and Roughead are so good at ground level (I'd say they're 3 of the best 5 KPFs at ground level) they act as smalls in their own right. In Blair you've got the forward pressure that Mayne was so good for and while you lose a little production offensively you didn't need it. In swapping Ballantyne for Matera you gain a little extra potential but lose the production but I think Matera fits into your system just as well anyway so while you've lost two better SFs I don't think your attack is any worse off and in doing so you've rounded out your defence and midfield so much more. Really rate your squad. Dunn coming on really helps you, he's such a gun now. Never thought I'd say that either.

IIRC you guys were telling me to play Dunn jokingly last season

Wow, Jabba's forward line is better than the Swans'. I rate Brian Lake as the best full-back in the game, too... everybody else is just icing on the cake...

I like Heef's Ruck and Forward. David Hale is one of my favourite players. He has been a bit quieter this year (played brilliantly against Collingwood, though), but last year he had an awesome purple patch where he looked unbeatable.

  14. Skippos SM Morgan

I for one was serious. He began to take the step to 'exceptional player' last season.

Jabba will go far IMO. Top 4 chance.

Heef's isn't bad, and is better than his last season's lineup IMO, but I think a couple of flaws (lack of a truly elite mid, no real second KPD) might hurt him. Would expect most sides bar Masters, Benny and Reframe to be fairly closely matched, so meh.

  16. Skippos SM Morgan

Don't discount the expansion sides. They've been given 4 bonus picks in the 6th/12th/18th/24th rounds in place of picks 31-34 so they'll have a deeper list and hopefully more rounded as compensation for not having retentions.

I think if sides are able to be as good as they were last year with a 10% less diluted player pool they'll rise up the ladder.

  17. Please_Reframe PP Reframe

Nah my team is relative horse crap compared to the others. The lack of a great KPF, as well as an average lot of SD's and SF's and the lack of a truly elite mid will hurt me bad.

  18. MASTERS S Masters

true, but i reckon i have improved a bit

  19. Skippos SM Morgan

    Nope.

  20. Benny BS Read

    You'll both beat my lineup
