Horrigan Cup Team of the Week

  1. Captain SSD Dong

    Week 1

    Pumas vs Vipers
    Crusaders vs Stingrays
    Gamblers vs Cyclones
    Ravens vs Allstars

    1. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=41>BJT Manera</a> 116(140)

    <img src=http://cricsim.com/site/images/logos/6.png>

    With the only century by an opener for the round, Manera managed to guide the Stars to a close victory against the Ravens chasing 231. He received close to no support from his team mates with the second highest scorer, <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=91>DW Lewis</a>, accumulating just 38. While he was unable to carry his bat to the end, his innings was no doubt what separated the two teams at the Unkindness.

    2. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=83>AM Farhat</a> 59(61), 2-63

    <img src=http://cricsim.com/site/images/logos/2.png>

    Chasing a stiff target of 287 against the Gamblers, Farhat set the tone at the top of the order scoring a nearly run a ball 59 including 6 fours and a six. The bowling attack may not have been the deadliest, but his innings was vital to ensure the Clones did not fall behind early in the game. His 2 wickets also removed set batsmen <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=317>BG Herd</a> and <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=139>BL Hornby</a> who were both looking to step up the run rate in the final overs.

    3. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=40>DT Petrucci</a> 107*(102)

    <img src=http://cricsim.com/site/images/logos/2.png>

    4. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=457>S Verigotta</a> 102*(86)

    <img src=http://cricsim.com/site/images/logos/2.png>

    Coming in at 62-1 and 104-2 respectively, the pair of Petrucci and Verigotta never looked back, with both of them cracking matchwinning hundreds for the Clones.

    5. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=160>BS Read</a> 132*(112)

    <img src=http://cricsim.com/site/images/logos/12.png>

    Scoring the first of three hundreds in the game, Read propelled the Gambler's innings to 287, remaining not out at the end.

    6. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=334>G Shriram</a> 31(23), 4-50

    <img src=http://cricsim.com/site/images/logos/5.png>

    He got lucky, move along now, nothing to see here.

    7. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=324>K Fung</a> 20(31)

    <img src=http://cricsim.com/site/images/logos/11.png>
    Nothing spectacular, but every other wicketkeeper that got a chance to bat was terrible, barring <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=881>AJ O'Neill</a>, who unfortunately is a top order batsmen (and didn't do much better anyways).

    8. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=410>GJ Weaver</a> 7*(4), 4-19

    <img src=http://cricsim.com/site/images/logos/7.png>

    After ripping out the Pumas top order bowling first change, Weaver came back in the death to pick up his fourth wicket and ended up giving away just the 19 runs in his 10 overs. Stroked the winning runs for the Vipers as well, to cap off a great day for him.

    9. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=418>HT Davis</a> 17*(15), 5-50

    <img src=http://cricsim.com/site/images/logos/6.png>

    At 187-4, the Ravens were looking for a strong finish with <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=928>SSD Dong</a> and <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=334>G Shriram</a> going along at a fair clip. Davis had other ideas though, as he removed both of them along with the rest of the Ravens' lower order barring #11, to finish off with the only 5-fer of the round. As if that were not enough, he denied the Ravens of a win by digging the Stars out of trouble with the bat, scoring a quick 17 to bring them home by 2 wickets.

    10. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=178>HJ Bots</a> DNB, 3-46

    <img src=http://cricsim.com/site/images/logos/11.png>

    11. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=304>AJ James</a> DNB, 3-51

    <img src=http://cricsim.com/site/images/logos/11.png>

    Their 3 wickets apiece helped restrict the Crusaders to a mere 221. Bots removed the set <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=458>S Bakkum</a> on 77, and the pair both struck at regular intervals to stop any momentum the Crusaders were gaining.

    Unlucky to miss out:

    <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=458>S Bakkum</a> 77(107)

    <img src=http://cricsim.com/site/images/logos/3.png>

    In what was a sorry batting card for the Crusaders, Bakkum was the only one who stood up and fought back as wickets fell around him. Just misses out to Farhat for the opening slot.

    <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=327>JEM Logan</a> 46*(48), 1-34

    <img src=http://cricsim.com/site/images/logos/11.png>

    A decent all round performance by Logan saw him guide the rays all the way to the end, in what was a relatively comfortable chase of 221. He was also economical in his spell of 8-1-34-1, picking up the wicket of <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=438>BI Immanuel</a>. Unfortunately for him, Shri had the better week.

    1. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=41>BJT Manera</a>
    2. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=83>AM Farhat</a>
    3. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=40>DT Petrucci</a>
    4. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=457>S Verigotta</a>
    5. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=160>BS Read</a>
    6. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=334>G Shriram</a>
    7. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=324>K Fung</a> [+]
    8. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=410>GJ Weaver</a>
    9. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=418>HT Davis</a>
    10. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=178>HJ Bots</a>
    11. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=304>AJ James</a>

    Please vote for your player of the round from the aforementioned XI.

    If you feel anyone has been unfairly missed out, don't hesitate to mention it, I may have looked over the performance by accident.

    Anyone else thinks Bakkum deserves it more than Farhat? Upon reflection Farhat was up against a pretty meh attack..

  6. Farhat AM Farhat

    Need me in the team for my bowling.

  7. Chewie JA Chewie

    My 3 wickets :ninja:

  8. Captain SSD Dong

    Yeah, I did actually think about slotting you in at 7 with James missing out, but that would leave us with 2 specialist pace bowlers and Farhat bowling first change. I was also trying to get everyone to play in the position they normally do.

  9. MrPrez CM Dyer

    Good stuff Captain.

  10. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

    Glad to make it into the XI. I'll vote Manera for Man of the Round as he undoubtably won that game for the Allstars.

  11. the_killerz S Bakkum

    Yip. Harder attack to face imo.

  12. Eds E Ames

    Surely in a 'Team of the Week' type thing such as that, Heef should be at 8 with Gaz at 9?

  13. Gazza GJ Weaver

    Laughable

  14. Old Mate M Perry

    12. Perry

    After scoring a powerful 44 Perry was incorrectly called out via cheating umpire. His 44 consisted of a big six, Perry even managed to take a wicket, a game turning wicket if I do say so myself.

    End.

    Good side. You managed to actually include middle overs bowlers to bowl in the middle overs which is what I was looking for.:p

  17. Riddy JH Ridd

    hope i can make a few of these sides later on.

  18. loganb JEM Logan

    Pleased to get a mention! Hopefully I can make the side at some point too!
