Sooo cbf'ed. Copying and live scores, formatting them so they're actually legible etc etc. Also, season stats suck ass because the program miscalculates sometimes so I was doing it all manually.
Downloaded it and had a go at it. It look pretty simple. Was it the uploading of the play by play that was the problem? Also, how do you get that?
Tbh it wouldn't be that hard to make a Basketball sim in Excel (sort of like Heef did) however it would be simpler as there'd be less possibilities. You'd just have to have variables for things like shot tendency for each player. Catch tendency, pass tendency etc etc Would take a bit to make but wouldn't be hard as such.
The biggest pain for me was entering the players into the sim and keeping track of season scores. Took so much effort. Team tactics also took a lot of work for each game.
The only variables you'd need would be: Tendency to shoot Shot rating - could elaborate to stuff like dunk, lay up etc. Tendency to pass Pass rating Handling rating Tendency to run Run rating Defense rating - rebound rating And so on.... Whilst there's lots of variables once you get that side of it done all you'd need is a player database where you could import them into an actual game formula (the hard part) Another hard part would be having an ongoing automatic stats page for every player but very doable. I reckon a decent sim could be made....
