    That tackle by Lewis on Tedesco was textbook, classic technique. It deserved to be rewarded with an extra second or two. Yet Sutton penalises because he thinks Tedesco has earnt a quick play-the-ball. It just kills me. Where is the incentive to not use wrestling, 3-man gang tackles when you see blokes getting pinged for great low tackles like that?

    We have got to stop this ridiculous favouritism to the attacking side. In 24 hours we've seen Jennings and Lewis pass blatantly off the ground and been rewarded for it. Mitchell didn't play the ball on the fucking mark once tonight and got rewarded for it. Every time a dummy-half gets picked off by the marker it's either a penalty or a knock on against the defender.

    And on, and on, and on......we get a little closer to Auckland 9's/touch football with every game that passes...

    Actually raise and interesting point Magic.

    I think a team that wins in a qualifying final and gets the week off should be given a leniency in terms of player suspensions - so even if they aren't playing, that counts as a week. I'd never really considered the hypothetical, but you're almost given an incentive to lose the match, especially if you know that your 2nd week opponent is a lot weaker than the 3rd week opponent would be.

    That isn’t remotely an incentive and no team would purposefully lose because of it. You can’t have players serving suspensions in weeks they’re not scheduled to play. The issue is weighting finals matches the same as regular club games and the flawed system of carry over points. Mitchell should not miss a prelim for that tackle, but not because they get a week off; it’s because the tackle, by itself, doesn’t warrant missing such an important game.

    Hahaha, I had the exact same thought in the Melbourne game. If say Cam Smith did something that was almost guaranteed to get him 2 weeks, would you throw the game to get him back for the gf?

    I don't see how you can compare the chambers tackle with that.. Chambers held him up in position paused then dropped, it was clearly intentional. Mitchell's one doesn't look intentional even in slowmo, the head was just pressed against him and slid down during the tackle.

    I'm not saying I would, the risk of not making the GF in the first place just isn't worth it. But I am curious whether, if you knew you had quite an easy draw with a loss, whether it would be tempting. Or if it was almost certain to only be 1 week, and you had the option of playing a semi without Smith or a Prelim without Smith, whether you'd take the loss.

    Yeah this, happened last week as well. Player faked a tap and put everyone offside but ref let play go on, can't fake a tap.
