Run through the line or stop before it.

    It's not that hard.

    Stop being appologetic for decoys.

The defender forfeits any claim to obstruction when he attempts to tackle the decoy. Which is what JWH did. That was not bracing, nor was it an attempt to get around him. He sunk the shoulder in. I don't care what James did before that or whether it was inside shoulder or outside shoulder. It was a defensive decision.

Stop talking out of your arse.

I love how Fittler has been articulate and insightful in all his media appearances since becoming NSW coach but is still such a gronk when working for 9 on the sidelines hahahaha

JWH definitely tries to accentuate the obstruction but that's not the same as making a defensive decision.

If you want to hang in the defensive line that close to the goal line you're gonna get pinged, it's not something the defensive side should have to contend with.

Warren Smith calls them round about's and I quite like that term. If you're a decoy runner don't put yourself in that position. end of.

    #fuckroundabouts

I've been shouting about it for years, I'm just glad the NRL is finally picking up on it.

lol he attempts to accentuate an interference because he realised he'd hit a bloke without the ball.

This happens after he initiates contact. If he doesn't initiate contact in a defensive action, there is no doubt. He initiates contact in a defensive manner, and therefore he forfeits the claim to denied opportunity. He forfeits, more importantly, the presumption (benefit of the doubt) that he actually made a correct read and intended to slide out.

Your mentality gives carte blanche to defenders, plain and simple. By that standard, any decoy hitting the outside shoulder who would've run through the line or stopped a metre before it, can be hit on suspicion and then still be used as justification for an obstruction penalty. No way. You can't have both.

If he runs into James, if he braces, if he gets knocked over, if he attempts to get around the decoy; any one or any combination of these and he gets the penalty. That's not what he did.

Most of what you've said is just simply irrelevant. The only question is was he bracing or was he tackling. The reverse angle shows he leads with the point of his shoulder. Hardly bracing.

The video referee didn't seem the slightest bit concerned with who initiated contact. All he said was "James hits outside shoulder, JWH obstructed......"

lol okay. Is that how it is now?

Lmao were we just penalised because the player kept driving forward in the tackle? FMD.

I didn't watch the game, but why was the warriors player sin binned last week for getting punched by mccullough? For a raised arm? That's just a reportable offence isn't it.

  9. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

New rules say these can be binned.

  10. Cribbage RG Cribb

That whole situation was ridiculous. The refs wouldn't have even seen the raised arm if McCullough hadn't punched the bloke, and not only did they both end up in the bin but Brisbane got a penalty out of it when the Warriors had the ball. The punch changed the situation from play on Warriors to two blokes in the bin and penalty Brisbane.

So now everyone knows that if you copped a forearm but the ref misses it, just punch the cunt, especially if he's a better/more important player than you, and your team will get the advantage out of it.

  11. AVA T Delonge

Particularly with the ref justifying it as "your foul play resulted in a fight so you go to the bin as well". Absolutely clunge decision

That was by far the worst look for the game. He should have copped 6 weeks and must spend that time in boxing gyms. They could have landed on the button and still done nothing, couldn't knock the froth off a cappuccino.

Tonight's games will have such a huge bearing on the top 8, interesting night of footy.

That's the best we've attacked in about five years.

If Holmes is moved from fullback when Dugan returns I'll spit chips. Dugan in for Leutele and a Lewis back in it's all systems go.

    Love this superfluous addition.

Haha well if both you and the bloke you punch are going to end up in the bin, and you're Cameron Smith punching Kerrod Holland, maybe it's not worth the penalty you get out of it. If you're Holland punching Smith though, huge gains.
