Flack believes the Pumas are title hopes​

Two weeks into the season and already it seems clear that there is one player set for a stellar season, Scott Flack. Having already amassed 312 runs in round one thanks to an absolute demolition of the Cyclones, Flack is potentially on the verge of breaking a number of records throughout of Season 12. The top training player in all of CricSim sat down with James Hughes from the CricSim Herald to discuss all things cricket.

CricSim Herald: Killer start to the season Flack, what do you put it down to?

Flack: It's important to just relax and let it happen. Of course with an extended pre-season we've all had a lot of time to work on our techniques and stamina and my practice just happened to pay off in round 1. I'm sure we'll see other Pumas doing similar feats throughout the season.Of course, the biggest factor was the bunch of pie-chuckers, with hands made of butter, that call themselves the Cyclones.

CricSim Herald: Your first match for the season and you've already scored 300+ runs, was batting one of your main concerns over the off-season?

Flack: Every part of my game was a concern over the off-season, as it always is. If you focus on just one or two things, you'll end up losing skills somewhere else. In the past I used to focus mostly on batting, and you can tell from my bowling records that was costing me a lot with the ball.

CricSim Herald: Are you hoping to build on this now for the rest of the season? Do you have any realistic goals for the season?

Flack: The only real goal this season is to take out the Bannerman Shield. I've had my personal successes over the seasons, and I think it's definitely time to have a team success. Of course when I created the Pumas it was one of the things I wanted to achieve, and even though I've stepped down as president it's still something I'd love to achieve with the guys.

CricSim Herald: What are the Pumas chances for Season 12?

Flack: I'd like to think they are very high. We've been very competitive for a few seasons now, and managed to make the finals, but we've just missed out at the final hurdle. This season I think we're a bit stronger, and have the experience to finally make it over the line.

CricSim Herald: Is there any players who have been stand-outs over the off-season and you most look forward to playing alongside or watching from the Pumas?

Flack: <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=917>DM Diggler</a> is one who comes to mind. He's had an interesting career that many people noted early on for his lack of runs with the bat. He has come a long way and I think he can really help us finally get the shield.

As always I enjoy playing with anyone at the club, especially the likes of <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=855>LE Schaw</a>, <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=439>DA Astele</a> and of course <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=396>AJ Son</a>, who is always making everyone else look good.

CricSim Herald: Who is the benchmark this season? Are you far from the top?

Flack: From a team stand point you'd have to say the Vipers, they've shown what they can do in recent seasons, and have the titles to back it up. I think we'll definitely be able to push them, and hopefully come out on top this time around.

CricSim Herald: Do you have a least favourite side that you'd prefer not to play?

Flack: Not really. I enjoy being tested by the best, as it's a challenge and you enjoy a win or a good innings all the more. At the same time, it's always nice to look good slogging the worst teams, like the Crusaders and Cyclones, all over the park.

CricSim Herald: What about other players, is there anyone you don't like to play? Or even don't like in general?

Flack: <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=112>BJ Gemmell</a>. It's hard to read his spin, just struggle to get him away before he sends me back to the pavilion.

CricSim Herald: How do you unwind after a game? And then get up again for another one?

Flack:Just sitting down after the match with the other guys at the pumas and having a few drinks is enough for me to unwind after a match. Getting up for another is always difficult, you need to just focus on your training once again and then try to get into that relaxed state of mind when the match begins. If you go out there with too much on your mind, you're going to fail.

As discovered through our chat with Flack, it seems the Pumas are a good chance to giving the competition a real shake-up. While all teams have been training hard, it’s hard to look past the Pumas near flawless preparation towards Season 12. The veteran and pioneering Flack will be looking at improving an already an impressive average. After 251 first class matches, Flack averages at 49.35 with the bat which is a great feat and suggests Flack’s immortality, and was rewarded with induction into the CricSim Hall of Fame acknowledging his career.

Time will tell whether or not Flack’s bold Pumas predictions are correct and all eyes will be out to see if the Pumas can walk the walk as much as they can talk the talk. With strong competition from the likes of the Vipers and the Ravens, Season 12 promises to be one of great competition and close battles between the top teams.
