    I suspect mindgames.

No chance it will happen, but we need a 2015 grand final rematch.

they do desperately need another big sized player to help take on the roosters pack, it wouldn't be that surprising if he did get chucked on for two 15 min spurts.

They wouldn't pull this out of left field if he wasn't a chance of playing. Match fitness would be a concern so yeah you'd think he'd only play very limited minutes. I wouldn't be playing him though given the injury.

  5. Paddy P Orr

Rather he didn't play tbh. Rather him ready for 2018.

  6. Magic AJ Parker

It'd be a very early return for a big man.

Mansour did a 7 month return earlier this year but he's a bit more agile, younger and carrying less weight.

I believe what Green said to be true, he's not planning on using him but if a couple of players were to drop out last minute then he'd pick him.

If you wanted to play mind games surely you'd name Thurston before Scott. So I don't buy that theory.

Scott playing or not playing would make very little difference in terms of game plans for both sides.

Last week Jensen played 22 minutes and Asiata played 33. If Scott was in any shape to play I think I'd pick him ahead of Jensen. Even if only ended up playing 10-15, Asiata is capable of playing many more minutes than he did last week to fill in that gap, and I reckon 10-15 minutes of a half-fit Scott would probably be more effective than Jensen.

So hard to pick how a player will come back from a knee. A tight running no nonsense prop like Scott has a better chance of making a good go of it than nearly any other position. 10 minutes at the back end of the first half and 10-15 at the start of the second could be the move.

Heard this stat the other day that Easts have only won two premierships in the last 40 years. That surprised me a bit. Thinking about it now it makes sense but that still gave me a moment's pause. It goes against the perception one has of a club that is supposed to be highly successful. Based on finals appearances and minor premierships they are but holding aloft the actual trophy, not so much.

  11. Magic AJ Parker

The perception that its a succesful club really only holds true to the NRL era. After Gibson in the 70s the club was notriously mediocre. Wasnt really until Politis brought Gould over that we started to build something.

You're about my age though yeah, so you probably wouldn't have first hand memories of that mediocrity apart from maybe the mid 90's? Even then though they were fairly decent; made a prelim in 97, semis in 96,

Magic wou;d be 5 or more years younger than you. He'd be 25 or so?

  14. Magic AJ Parker

    Yeh 27.

Earliest memories of games are early 00's.

I still cant believe Nth Qld are in the GF. In years gone by with Thurston out they miss the 8. With JT and Scott out they're doing their best to avoid the bottom 4. I mean it's like the 06 Broncos making the GF without Lockyer and Webcke. Or the 2013 Roosters without Pearce and JWH. Or 2010 Dragons without Soward and Weyman. Or 2014 Souths without Reynolds and Burgess.

It's fucking incredible. The standard of the comp is down imo but it's still an amazing achievement.

Don't want to sound like a wanker but do you reckon that is because Easts were fucking shit earlier?

I'm recently 30 and I vividly remember the '94 grand final, where I watched it and who I watched it with. Still remember jokes that were made and things that were said during that game despite being only 7 or so. I actually remember bits and pieces of attending a party for the 91 gf Canberra lost as well. I remember so much about loving the game from 94-97....players I loved from all different clubs etc and that's quite a bit earlier in life for me than it was for you.

  17. Toolman TR Man

2015 roosters were without Pearce and JWH and they went from the best in the comp to being knocked out in the semi final.

If they challenge Melbourne I'll change my mind but I still think it's just luck. They only just scraped by the Sharks with some dodgy calls, they beat Eels who were overrated and played like shit, and they beat a Roosters side who put in one of their shittest performances of the season yet they still almost lost that game as well. They had 6 games before the finals against big teams to prove themselves and they failed everytime, even when plenty of those teams played nowhere near their best either. Since then they just beat an out of form sharks, i'm not even going to call the eels a big team, and they got roosters on a good day. Is that really worth giving them that much credit?

  18. Paddy P Orr

Green's done a top job with this team. Beating Cronulla with several bad calls going against them was a good effort itself let alone to get past Parra and the Roosters. Each time hardly anyone giving them a chance. They can challenge the Storm imo.

  19. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

The fuck you on about? Pearce and JWH played about 20 games each in 2015.

  20. Toolman TR Man

yeah and they got injured in rnd 24 and they were without them for the finals series. if you're talking about regular season then just lol, the cowboys finished 8th.
