    Morgan covers everything including second row and hooker at a pinch. Keep him on the bench. We've got plenty of options to play five-eighth; Cherry-Evans, Maloney, Munster, even Mitchell Pearce who I could see being a success at Test level, especially with Cordner next to him.

    I think he meant if Cronk gets injured during the comp or on games he's rested and they intend to use Morgan at 7. They always prefer to use someone who's part of the squad in every game to cover if Cronk gets injured say before the GF rather than bring in someone brand new like Pearce. Hunt can be on the bench and can also come in if Morgan is failing to try and rescue the game.

    I understand. But I still don't think he's the best player available for that role. Cherry-Evans should be there imo.

    So you'd rather pick an inferior 6 to keep Morgan on the pine? Hunt is the best available 14 behind Morgan.

    I don't think Cherry-Evans is an inferior half but if I did I'd still pick him with Morgan on the bench. Hunt isn't really close to Test standard in either of the two positions he covers, especially hooker. If there are no injuries he doesn't play. And if there are injuries to the outside backs then you have to reshuffle the halves (Morgan) to cover it. Fuck that.

    'Aussie Aussie Aussie... No, No, No. So it's official - the end of my 2017 Rugby League year. Who would've thought this year would be the last time I played for both QLD and Australia. A bit of respect would've been nice... to at least receive a phone call and learn about selection that way instead of through a leaked report from the media on last night's news. After dedicating more than 10 years wearing the Maroon and Green and Gold jersey, you'd expect to be treated with a bit more decency and respect. I guess not. Lucky I have one more year left at the @brisbanebroncos unless someone wants to shatter that dream too. What a rollercoaster of a year - Peace out 2017 .'

    Jason Taumalolo has turned down the Kiwis to play for Tonga.

    Hopefully other Kiwis* follow in his footsteps, would be so good for the international game. The gap between Australia and NZ would widen significantly but it would make for an awesome pacific islands tri-series which could be huge for the game in those areas.

    It may be good in the long-term but it's terrible in the short. Australia has literally zero competition in this World Cup now that NZ have had their forward pack decimated.
