Round 2 kicked off again with the Sticky Wickets taking to field against the boys in pink, the Gamblers. SWXI were first to bat and JP Thornton was keen to continue his form from round 1. It didn’t take long for Thornton to get going belting Man for 2 consecutive 6’s off the 3rd over. After the Sticky Wickets lost Speirs and Petrucci for little it was up to Thornton and the middle order to take over. The partnership by Thornton and DA Alessi propelled the Sticky Wickets to a winnable total. The 83 run partnership between Thornton and Alessi ended when Thornton heaved one down to long on but was caught on the boundary. RM Chowdhuri came to the crease and did what was needed. He kept the runs ticking over and built another partnership with Alessi. With the Chowdhuri departing late in the innings Alessi and the rest of the batting order pushed hard to get the total just over 300. Leaving the Gamblers a run rate of 6 per over.

With the rumors spreading around that CricSim legend and Gamblers star, Brett Gemmell, has been using illicit drugs to boost his performance. The 2nd innings was going to be interesting.

“Brett Gemmell seen here in the Gamblers changing room before warm ups for the HC fixture v the Sticky Wickets

Gemmell then proceeded to carry his team to a stunning victory carrying the team with his effort of 170

We here at CH do not condone what is seen here but after that onslaught we have to wonder... where can we get some of that?”

This picture surfacing just as the Gamblers open batsmen walked out to take on the SWXI attack, I tried to get a comment from the league owner RG Cribb, he didn’t responded.

It didn’t start well for the boys in pink being 2/10 as BG Herd and BJ Gemmell came in to make something of this match. The performance put on by these two stars was amazing. Gemmell didn’t take his time knocking the ball around the park all day. Herd was just as good in keeping up with his partner Gemmell. After putting on a partnership of 189 runs, Ben Herd fell short of his century by 3 runs however Brett Gemmell kept going. Taking the majority of the strike Gemmell raced to 175* taking the team to a comfortable victory. Brett Gemmell scored 23 fours and 3 sixes in the highest Horrigan Cup score since records has been kept.

In a not-so-high-scoring game the Pumas took on the Ravens. It was a game with many starts for the Pumas, not one of their players really got going on to post a big score. BE Quilty and MD Dorn got the Pumas off to an ideal start putting on a 94 run partnership. After them both departing in consecutive overs the Ravens had two new batsmen to target and they didn’t make anything of it. JE Harding went on to help the Pumas score 247. After having a solid base to really push on the Pumas let it slip. Dorn manage to score 51, while Quilty and Harding just fell short scoring 49. Orr and Deane did the damage with 3 wickets each.

The Ravens were in for what would be a tricky chase. Needing 248 to win they look to get a good start from their openers. However much like the Pumas innings they got starts but didn’t push on. RG Cribb, PM Jackson and @SD Phlegm all fell around the 25 runs mark leaving it up to their middle order. The Ravens didn’t get anything from Dong as he and Phlegm both fell to AD Hunt. This meant that the two from Great Britain would be relied on to save this match. MJ Deane came in at 4/90 and need a partnership with CJ Laing however the long tail of the Ravens might save them. They put on 58 before the partnership was broken. Schaw caught Laing off the bowling of MD Dorn. Schaw and Dorn teamed up again after a brilliant stumping by LE Schaw to remove Deane. A few last dig efforts by P Orr and DP Howell wasn’t enough as the Ravens fell short by 17 runs. Flack removed the 2 danger men.

On a slow pitch at the Snake Pit the Vipers were put into bat first by the Crusaders. Boland and McGrath started slowly seeing off the opening bowlers but eventually meeting their fate from JJD Heads who also removed Verigotta. With the Vipers president in and set it was up to him to drive the Vipers to a reasonable score. Delonge was hoping to get help from fellow batsmen Torres and Gee but it didn’t come. The Vipers never really go anything going in their innings only scoring 212 runs. Delonge score 93 not out.

The Crusaders found themselves in a solid position. After JJD Heads claimed 4 of the big scalps in the Vipers line-up. Needing to defend a small target the Vipers got to work. Quickly removing fellow Brit, Blunder claimed the wicket of Ames, which allowed GJ Weaver to swiftly remove Heads for a duck. Weaver striked again, trapping Retzel for LBW and then with the same ball getting Miokovic plum in front. Welker removed cult favourite Taylor and that was that. M Perry and CM Dyer did the rest. Keeping their heads they guide the Crusaders to victory with 4 wickets in hand. Perry finished with 77* while Dyer made 57*. Weaver took 4 wickets for he Vipers.

In a low scoring match that only saw 273 runs scored there wasn’t much to talk about. The Allstars were first to bat and DR Armstrong came out… well strong. Knocking the ball about to made a swift 56 but not before going through 4 partners. The young Stingrays were riding high never letting anyone go on from a start, making run saving plays and taking their chances. The Allstars put on 169 runs.

Rays star SM Morgan was found fapping in the locker rooms between innings. CSH reporter Hughes caught up with Morgan to ask what that was about. Morgan responded with ‘Yeah, it was relief and good effort, now its time to have a bat” Hughes was confused as he thought he did just have a bat.

Going in to bat the Rays were looking to put this game to rest quickly however runs weren’t easy to come by. Funkotron and Davis did their part removing the top order having them 3/30. ML Martyn was the only Stingray to put up any sort of fight scoring 58 runs in the loss. Davis continued to do damage claiming 3 wickets while Storer also claimed 3. Losing by 45 runs the Stingrays were left with “What went wrong”
