    Scott Wilson

In CricSim, like in many cricketing nations, there tends to be a lot of talk around who is the greatest in each role. The batting art is one that throws up a few different names into the hat for the title of “greatest”. As we have seen in the wicket-keeping department there is a clear winner, JB Dempsey. So, the last area is bowling. In this field over the past couple of seasons a champion has emerged after a long contest between two, that man is Scott Wilson.

Unlike the majority of players who will be inducted into the Hall of Fame, Wilson can claim proudly never to have had a bad season. He has played in 10 First Class (FC) seasons and his worst average came in his first season, Season 2 of the Bannerman Shield, which was 32.18. Since then he has regularly taken 100 FC wickets in a season at an average under 30. His largest haul came in Season 10, when he took a staggering 168 FC wickets at an average of 28.19. The only milestone that he is yet to achieve that is unlikely to sit well with the great finger spinner is taking 100 Bannerman Shield wickets in one season, his best is 94. Whereas his great rival for the top bowler spot, TG Bullpitt, has managed to break that barrier twice, it has also been broken once by his old spin rival GEC King. Unlike his great rival Wilson is still causing chaos for CricSim’s batting elite and that is really what has cemented his place at the top.

As well as being a great bowler, Wilson is considered to be one of the better bowlers in terms of batting. While he has only passed the 50 mark on 3 occasions in competitive matches Wilson has helped to see many actual batsmen over the line to achieve their milestones and has always given his teams’ lower order a bit of extra strength.

Off the field Wilson has always been a strong character. Due to this character it has lead him to Presidential roles within clubs and they have not always been the easiest roles to fill. At the Cyclones he helped to build up and all-star line-up, which failed to reach its final goal, and then he also was the initial President to deal with the club after that fell apart. Following on from that he returned to an old club of his the Crusaders, who many would have argued were on the verge of collapse. He helped to steady the ship in the short term and brought people in who have been able to look to building the club back up long term. He has proved to be another CricSim great who has not only helped the game on the field, but also off it.

At the end of Season 11 Wilson’s bowling statistics were 1281 FC wickets at an average of 26.38, this includes 24 Test wickets at 28.25. This just shows how consistently good he has been. Other will achieve that amount of wickets, which is still adding to, however whether someone will be able to be as consistently good and reach those wickets at a better average remains to be seen. Whether over the years he is eventually bested or not Wilson has without a doubt had numerous batsmen in a spin over the years and thoroughly deserves his place in the Hall of Fame.

    What?

Peaches said that after Wilson's first game. He was hyping himself up, Gemmell was hyping him too, then he bowled pies in a trial and Peaches called him a shit cunt and put him in ALC all season. :p

Another good choice. I expect the likes of Gemmell to be joining shortly.

Disappointed at the lack of replies in this thread tstl. No Christmas cards this year.

My effort to bowl in both ALC and Bannerman Shield finals, in which I dominated and won both, in the same season is the greatest highlight of such an illustrious career.

    Thank you lord.

Even the Pumas have a better bowler than Wilson these days.

I was expecting to be #4, to match where I bat. But I'll prob be 7, as we all know I'll be in there, but the Herald like to fuck with me. I fully expect Brett Kennedy to be inducted.
    Within 3 days.

I don't think the initial inductees are actually supposed to be in any order as such.
