Probably won't end up doing all these but everyone else will finish at the same time and I'll get lazy, but because Incey finished first I'll give him a reward.
There wouldn't be much of a review. Big 3 players, surrounded by shit cunts. Need big 3 to do something or else you'll fail hard, etc.
Incey 1. Kurt Gidley 2. Daniel Tupou 3. Jack Wighton 4. Kane Linnett 5. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck 6. Aidan Sezer 7. Scott Dureau 8. Aaron Woods 9. Mitch Rein 10. Anthony Laffranchi 11. Beau Scott 12. Boyd Cordner 13. Joel Riethmuller 14. Ray Thompson 15. Martin Kennedy 16. Kane Evans 17. Aidan Guerra 18. Josh Mantellato 19. BJ Leilua 20. Pat Politoni 21. Junior Roqica 22. Matt Hyland 23. Chris Sandow 24. Brett White 25. Luke Capewell Spine - C Still not really sure what to make of the spine. It's four decent players - Sezer, Dureau, Gidley and Rein - without anything that will strike fear into the hearts of the opponents. They'll certainly guide the side around the park and be able to convert sustained pressure but I think the really good teams will have one of their spine players of a more elite class; Incey will be hoping Gidley can be the man there. Thompson will relieve Rein for a short stint at dummy half and the backup options are unlikely to put pressure on the starters unless there are injuries. I'd probably be willing to upgrade the spine to a B- if it had some help from the back row, but it doesn't. Not exactly a weakness but won't be how this team looks to win. Up the Guts - B A very no frills forward pack that will look to win the yardage battle first and foremost. A very strong defensive middle third with Woods, Laffranchi and Riethmuller who will also cart the ball up in attack effectively. Scott and Cordner are two pretty old fashioned second rowers who will assist in this area, while Brett White and Matt Hyland are in much the same mould on the reserves list. Fringes - C+ The two biggest attacking threats for this team in the opposition 20 will be the cross-field bomb to Daniel Tupou and the short ball to Boyd Cordner. It will surprise no-one to learn Incey is a Roosters supporter. The Sezer/Dureau combination will not be unlike the Pearce/Maloney one and these sort of repetitive pet plays will be how the team looks to capitalise on field position. Incey would do well to pair Jack Wighton and RTS together as the former is adept is giving his winger space, an RTS's footwork will no doubt be able to take advantage of that. Bench - C The bench of this team is quite different to its starting pack which makes it an interesting proposition. Kane Evans's defensive pattern is quite unlike the starting forwards in that he looks to force errors more than hold the line, while Guerra's ability to sniff out a hole from a standing start is in contrast to the more traditional hole-runners that are starting the game in the back row. Thompson will probably play limited minutes to relieve Rein. It's an interesting one because I could see the bench of this side turning the game in either direction.
I'm not reviewing any teams until they're actually done. So just Incey for now. And quite possibly just Incey period if everyone else finishes tomorrow..
Looking to win my games off my defence, pretty strong defensively across the park. Good kicking game hopefully and just hoping Gids provides just enough flair in attack. Interesting with Kane Evans. Not 100% sure who to have on the bench with him and White, but Evans definitely gives the more spark.
Yeah, I'd probably be looking at playing White against the weak teams in your pool and Evans against the better ones, because he's more of a game changer as such. I'm probably just over-thinking it though.
And yeah, the team's defence is definitely its strength. Overall I think that if you win games you'll end up with a silly amount of territory/possession; that's the road to success. Short kicking game to Tupou will be big.
Will you give us some kind of individual player rankings via PM or something when we're done? I'll probably think I'm going to kill it only to have one of my guns rated a nuffy.
