It's really not possible with the way the rankings work currently and are likely to work for the foreseeable future.
Isn't this more of a database issue? If the database held the rankings at the end of each round, then bob's your uncle. Or is it more that the current database is dynamic and therefore you'd need a second database polled with data from the first at the end of each round?
The rankings is actually something that can be done fairly easily by manually exporting the .html at the end of each round. How about averages though? Same thing? A yes/no answer would suffice.
Performances actually change retrospectively. If you get hammered against the Saders and then the Saders get rolled for 100 the following week, your performance will be rated worse than if everyone gets hammered by the Saders for the rest of the season. If I tried to go back in time and figure out what your ranking was in Round 4 it'd give me a different result to what it actually was in Round 4 because the value of those performances has changed. Having the database store the rankings after each round makes some sense, but I'd have to go back and make that decision back before Season 1 for it to really work, and it'd result in a lot more heavy SQL-ing whenever someone looked it up, and heavy SQLing is already slowing the site down a bit.
Point 1 is fine if you accept the rankings are only a point in time - you were ranked at x after round 4, even if round 6 adjusts the value of round 4. Don't see a problem there. But the SQL load is a reasonable problem. I guess from the layman looking in, it's a relatively small amount of data which needs to be stored in the table (250 players x 12 seasons x 18 weeksish) = ~50k pieces of data. But I suspect the number of combinations and permutations is higher than I'm giving credit for.
Let's be real, he was going to continue to +1 as more people chimed in with "classic" or "", just like how Gazza did.
I was just thinking the same thing. It's glorious. Really wondering how he contains himself over there sometimes, what with all the absolute morons that blow in every few months.
Should promote him to Admin or something so he can have ultimate power to fuck around like he does here.
When CW is annoying me I come back over here and take out my frustration on MightyPies. Works well enough.
Cribb poked himself in the eye twice within hours? Not sure if he's stupid or did it on purpose for the +1.
Dunno if this has been suggested, but under profiles, where it lists batting/bowling/all rounder rank, when you click that it takes you to players profile, could it take you to the rankings instead?
Yeah the rankings will be made actually part of the site properly in the offseason. That link has always been there like that for that reason; it's just the last thing we're yet to integrate. They'll be much prettier too hopefully.
Would it potentially be possible with career best figures/high scores etc, to link to hyperlink to the scorecard? Or pushing my luck
