With all the big games over the last few weeks it's got me thinking about team selections and players picked just to do a job. So basically the idea is, if you could pick an XI out of all the premiership players to play in a big match situation who would you take? For me, and this is what Fergie did so well (with players such as Fletcher and Park) you need to balance player quality with leadership qualities and work rate. After a bit of thought this is my team, as well as subs containing players who could also make the side: GK: De Gea RB: Zabaleta CB: Kompany CB: Terry LB: Baines CM: Gerrard CM: Toure RW: Silva AMC: Aguero LW: Rooney ST: Suarez Subs Cech Coleman Mertesacker Flamini Milner Hazard RvP Couldn't think of any players from outside the top 7, although I considered some of the Newcastle players. Ramsay unlucky to miss out too I guess
Would rather have Matic ahead of Flamini. Koscielny is also really great against some of the top sides; seems to even suit his game more playing against good players. Other than I agree with most of it.
Koscielny was just extraordinarily bad in his half against Chelsea. Disqualifies him for me. If I was going into a big game, there's no way I'd be picking Silva, Aguero, Rooney in the '3' of a 4-2-3-1 either tbf.
Haha that's exactly the same reason I didn't include Kosc. Why wouldn't you want those 3. Suarez and Rooney do as much running as any "defensive" options you can put there. I did consider starting Milner but tbph it would be instead of Silva who was superb against us and for the first 45 against Arsenal (didn't see much of the 2nd half, was on taxi duty)
Koscielny was shite in 45 against Chelsea which somehow outdoes the 360 amazing minutes he's played against the best side in the world in the last two years. I'd rather fist my own arsehole than trust Terry and Kompany to defend for my life.
The real reason I didn't pick any of the Arsenal defenders was because Arsenals record in the big games this season is shite, and the amount of goals you've shipped in them. Kosc would make my prem league XI hands down
Little the centre backs can do when the midfielders give the ball away and the fullbacks are caught up the field.
