Gameweek 1 1. JRE Luffman The Vipers opener was top scorer in what was a dismal match for runs with 103. His 80 in the first innings helped secure FIP's and set the Vipers season off for a great starts. 2. BH Borisc 3. SM Morgan Usually each player would have their own section but these two absolutely dominated the Crusaders in the opening round. The second innings produced a partnership of over 200 runs and completely killed off any chance the Saders had of getting a result. The players managed 193 and 263 runs respectively with Skippos clocking up a century in each innings. 4. S.Verigotta As we started the season a few people predicted the Verigotta would have a good start to the season, but no one predicted how good of a start it would be. A first innings score of 222 set the tone of the match, 308 runs in the match comfortabley got him into the team. 5. SA Flack The corner stone of the Pumas did what he does best in the game vs the Vipers which is EVERYTHING. His overall 2nd innings with both bat and ball were dissapointing but due to the overall poor nature of allrounders this week managed to make it in as the 5th bowler with 83 runs and 6 wickets at 21. 6. DW Lewis A first innings score of 6 was a terrible start for Lewis, but he really pulled it out when the Allstars needed someone to step up. With a target of 262 runs to win the match and the other 5 of the top 6 making a grand total of 24 runs the Allstars looked like a collapse was imminent. But Lewis went on to set a great partnership with Devonshire and scored a big 150 not out to win the game. 7. K Fung Id like to be able to write something decent about Fungs performance which got him in here, but it wasn't really that sensational, he is essentially in here by default because every other wicket keeper was terrible. Well done Fund, you managed to do the only job you're meant to, to an acceptable level. 8. GJ Weaver One of the new signings for the Vipers, everyone was excited for the first BS game of his Viper career and he didn't dissapoint. Scoring 41 not our and 33 in his innings he also managed 7 wickets @15 in what is a hard bowling unit to take a big share of wickets in. 9. AJ James Another new face for his team looking to make a big impression for the off. And thats exactly what he did. Snaring 6 wickets in the Crusaders first innings and 2 in the second. Between him and the next player and the Morgisc partnership they battered the crusaders off the park. 10. BJ Taylor His match average might not have been that special at all, due to a dismal 2nd innings bowling attempt but he manages to break into the TOTW due to his first innings alone. The best single innings bowling performance of the week, knocking out 7 wickets including an already set Farhat and O'Neil, Eddie, Callum who can all score big runs on their day and Hunt who had clawed his way to 50 already. While the Gamblers will be dissapointed from the whole teams performance vs the Cyclones, it was only a massive score set from another player of the week who stopped Taylor from possibly becoming a match winner from just 1 innings. 11. WC Welker The last position was closely contested between Welker, Hunt and Bots. All throwing worthy claim to it, all with good 7 wickets at different averagess. But in the end the decision was made on Welker really putting down the small hope Pumas had of coming out with a win in the final innings. Taking out Meister, Fittaman, Schaw and hitting Theo in both innings for a 1 and a 0 confirmed what everyone thought was going to be an opening win for the Vipers 1. JRE Luffman 2. BH Borisc 3. SM Morgan 4. S Verigotta 5. SA Flack 6. DW Lewis 7. K Fung + 8. GJ Weaver 9. AJ James 10. BJ Taylor 11. WC Welker Player of the week - S Verigotta In a match where the Cyclones were predicted to lose by most of the major pundits Verigotta really pulled the runs out and with good support around him helped the Cyclones to all the points :troll: Team of the Week Run count - 1278 Team of the Week wicket count - 37 Notable mentions - Davis + Funk between them managed 12 wickets @ 17, if just one of them had one less wicket and the other had one more then that person would of almost certainly made the team Bots + Hunt only just edged out by Welker
Will read it later when I'm not so tired, but getting player initials wrong/omitting some annoyed me immediately.
Dorn's Round 1 masterclass match consisted of 3 wickets and 77 runs. And they lost. Man of the match indeed.
