Definitely is, Ange likes playing with 2 wide men and one up front.

Cahill doesn't fit the role of those wide men and hes not going to be a deep lying midfielder, so there is no choice but for him to be upfront.

Hence why either Kennedy or Cahill would've been on the bench half the time.

I can't believe he omitted Kennedy though. I know he was lacking fitness but I'm not sold on using Taggart or Halloran if Cahill goes down.

This game has been so boring.

We looked so much better going forward with Bresciano out there yesterday.

Pretty much relying on him to feed balls through to Cahill for us to be any chance at scoring.

Looks like he's received a call up. Good luck to the lad

This could be anything. Saudi Arabia look like they have never played defence before. Cahill and Jedinak with the goals. 2-0 to Aus after 5 minutes.

    ...Saudi Arabia is filtered?

Quite possibly the most uninspiring victory i've had the displeasure of viewing.

There were some positives, but still obvious gaping holes in the team. Oar just really struggles out wide these days IMO, the sooner Kruse is back and fit the better we will be in that regard. Luongo looked good going forward but he really struggled to help Jedinak and Brilliante retain the ball when the game was tight.

    the positives:

    - Chris Herd looks the answer at right back. Just provided touches and decisions that others who've played there since Wilkshire just wouldn't be able to do.

    - Luongo looked to have potential, but has a long way to go.

    - Leckie is still terrible technically but he will continue to cause headaches with his speed and work ethic.

I think we really, really need to start trying some other options in midfield. Jedinak is well entrenched and should be, but Bresc can't play longer than 70 minutes and beyong him we struggle. I'm still convinced Mooy could play a role.

it's definitely time to recognize that he's probably the best actual striker we've got.

I'm growing very tired of some of these other cunts he's giving a shot up front.

  11. Farhat AM Farhat

    Tomi Juric

  12. Frizzed WC Welker

I think the biggest issue is pairing Jedinak with Milligan.

Agreed, but it worries me that I think the best replacement there is probably Matt McKay. Long-term I hope Brillante gets a crack there, although he was absolutely turd for Fiorentina in his first game, he's still got plenty of promise.

As for up front, for the Asian Cup I'd just be playing Cahill there with Kennedy off the bench (and probably Juric as the backup). If you want speed over height, then you start looking at Leckie or Kruse there really, but they should be in the squad already as wingers anyway.

Leckie up front iOS absolutely dire.

I'm a very casual socceroos fans, but Ive never seen it with Leckie, just not up to scratch

Leckie(and a couple others) is the shining light at the end of a very dark tunnel.

  18. Julian BJ Taylor

I'm yet to see Leckie score or put on a goal from about 15 opportunities where he should have pushed for one or the other.

Did I hear Jedinak was ranked 6th best player in European football recently?

  20. Lukic L Popovic

Yeah 5th best. Some stupid stat site no ones ever heard of had him 5th in their metric.
