    NZ has a lot of hurdles when it comes to football. Country size, the fact that we excel at so many other sports and pursuits and probably Rugby. I think our best chance is to attract overseas prospects who wouldn't make top teams in their own country. Sounds terrible but it's either that or spend a fortune on a great coach and let him have a pool of players permanently to torture into being great.

    To be fair, I don't expect us to win many games against decent opposition or make another world cup while I'm still alive but as long as we get rid of the negative hoofball tactics, I'll be happy.

    Although maybe it's the attitude of people like me which is holding us back.

    I'm not sure you actually would. Teams failing horribly to play expansive football isn't that much better to watch, just ask Spurs fans.

    Did we just look like a bunch of school boys out there or did we actually make some progress?


    Phoenix had some shabby results while they changed tactics but seem to do well now.
    Hopefully this is the same.
