Fair enough. I doubt anyone will be 100% fit by that stage of the season.

Pretty monsterous looking pack. Really do think we can mix it up with you guys in the fowards these days.

    8.Asotasi
    9.Luke
    10.Rapira
    11.Harrison
    12.Mannering
    13.Blair

    16.Lima/Nuua'usala/Packer
    17.Manu/L. Brown/Matulino

  3. BigGuns DA Astele

Defo have Lewis Brown on the bench imo, covers a few positions and is in really decent form.

  4. Sultan Pepper HG Emm

    No Pritchard you reckon

  5. Speirz DG Speirs

Zeb Taia started in the ANZAC Test as well, he's another big unit.

How do you feel he has declined? His effenciency or ruthlessness?

I still personally rate him as a very good player at FG level. Averages 100mpg off the bench with very few errors and still makes 20 odd tackles all in 40minutes.

No, because if Harrison did translate his Origin performances to Test football - something I think would be likely - I think he'd offer more at Test level than those two. I don't think he'd offer more at Test level than what Gallen has been doing though.

In a way, yes. If they'd not picked him and he maintained the standard of his performances in Origin or club football it'd be different, but he hasn't. Kite played well at Test level when he was playing well at club level. He hasn't played well at club level for two years. I considered him anyway - he'd probably be my next prop picked in fact - but I believe he has declined as a player. Normally if you decline at club level you decline at all levels - this is different from a lapse in form which is often overcome at rep level; this is a genuine decline in ability and likely performance. I've applied this to my favourite player of all time too - Jason Ryles, who not only performed at Test level but performed in Origin too, and has declined less than Kite at club level. Why wasn't Ryles in your squad, MF?

No, I just care about club footy more than you do. I'm telling you now - you won't find a New South Welshman who cares more about Origin when picking Test teams than I do; you really won't. Origin is still more important to me or my squad would be a lot different. It would have been even more different last year when I advocated picking Myles and Harrison in the seventeen.

There's a reason he's coming off the bench now though, and it's not because Perry and King have become massively improved starting props. He's always been a bit vulnerable to getting bashed early and having a quiet game, so coming on off the bench avoids that intense opening period. At a higher level, even the later part of both halves is still usually at a much higher pace, quality and intensity than that of a regular game, so I don't think he'd be as capable anymore.

I'd be picking a much different team to that tbh but yeah you have a lot of good options in the forwards. I'd send Mannering out to defend Inglis which would open up another second row spot.. I'd probably Harrison out too because his defence is so woeful but he will definitely get picked. Moimoi is a must.

    For mine:

    8. Asotasi
    9. Luke
    10. Moimoi
    11. Pritchard
    12. Brown
    13. Blair

    14. Lima
    15. Packer/Rapira
    16. Pettybourne
    17. Ropati or Locke or someone else who can play fullback

  10. Cribbage RG Cribb

Yep, this. He was getting dominated last year so he got moved to the bench. He's been more effective since that happened but I doubt it'd be a move that'd work at rep level these days.

I really do dislike people saying "he'd offer more." Wtf does that even mean?

I still find it hard to understand your saying even though Harrison can translate his ability to Origin, and Gallen can't (or hasn't), that Gallen would still "offer more" at Test level (a lower level). If we take Test form out of the equation, second criteria must be club footy. I find it extremely hard to believe that you'd still be picking him if his club form had been poor.

Ryles wasn't in my side because other players have since proven themselves. Ryles leaving the NRL plays a small part as well.

I appreciate that but when it comes to certain players, your criteria changes dramatically, IMO.

Why are we taking Test form out of the equation though? Gallen's been good in Tests, and he hasn't declined at any level, so I've no reason to think he won't continue to be good in Tests. Now I think Harrison would be good in Tests too - if he transferred his club/Origin performances to Tests, which is likely, he'd be a good Test backrower, but I think what Gallen's been doing at Test level is better (or at least, more useful in the context of the team) than what Harrison has been doing at Origin and club level.

If Gallen had never played a Test I'd be picking Harrison without question.

Didn't you pick both Weyman and Hannant in your squad? Both of those players have done two fifths of **** all in Origin.

  13. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Both of your squads lack gillett.

Prince is just working off the incumbency rule MF and he doesn't feel that Gallen has failed for Australia so he wouldn't drop him, despite his form being poor in the rep matches below international.

Do you think it was right for NSW to drop Justin Poore for his club form despite being up to origin in 09?

  15. Colesy BL Hornby

The entire QLD team should play the first game

lol, can't get much worse in Origin heh?

And had Ryles not gone to ESL and become a shit ****, I'd be picking him ahead of them. Same as Tahu - If you leave, you better come back and prove yourself.

No. I don't see how that relates to Gallen. My point is EWS values club footy over Origin when it comes to Gallen. ffs he STILL thinks Gallen should be a walk up starter for NSW. That's just a bad joke.

  18. Marto RK Fittaman

    Lacks Jamie Soward lad.

  19. Cribbage RG Cribb

The PM's team is picked from teams that don't make the top 8, so Soward won't be eligible for it.

People still arguing with MF over Gallen? FMD, it's obvious that he knows nothing about the great man.
