I read it as Justin originally too but knew he'd only played for two clubs so actually quoted to say it was BS before I noticed.

Is Campbell Graham particularly good? Worried about Chee-Kam in the centres.

  3. Cribbage RG Cribb

He's alright. Still kinda learning to be a first grade centre really.

If he gives Ch33ks a bath I'm ready to stamp "never start centre again" on his forehead tbh.

There is a lot Broncos don't have. Brisbane need a genuine number 1, a good left centre and 1 experienced prop that can lead the pack. They don't need Green.

    Depends who they are

Brisbane ceo and die hard fans don’t need Green
Brisbane Coach and bandwagon fans won’t tolerate Brisbane only winning 4-5 games this season. Those particular Brisbane stakeholders need Green badly. Fuck face or whatever his name is with 1 assist from 8 games wasn’t a liability on Saturday as he made few errors but he wasn’t an asset either as he didn’t know how to run the cutter. Our Noob 58th CHT outplayed him.

  6. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Nah. Green would be an absolutely horrid signing. Opt out.

Arana Taumata is always my favourite.
Signed for 7 clubs, played a total of 14 NRL games

    Hurricane's Round 9 preview

    1) Cows vs Roosters
We all know what will happen in this match. Mind you Roosters lost some forwards last match.

    2) Titans v Warriors
Both teams are about equal ability. Anybody's match. A betting man would go Titans as Warriors find it difficult to win two in a row. This years Titan are playing entertaining football. Could be great viewing.

    3) Rabbitohs vs Wests
    Rabbitohs - too professional.

    4) Sharks v Panthers
Panthers. Sharks are due to go on a losing skid.

    5) Broncos vs Dogs
Dogs will debut their touted English signing Luke Thompson at Lock. Game of the round. With Brisbane in dissaray I will tip dogs. On saturday night. This is the game of the round.

    6) Raiders vs Storm
    Meh

    7) Knights vs Eels
I like NewCastle in this for the bubble over. Include Knights in a low dollar bet multi.

    8) Dragons vs Sea Eagles
St George are lost. Don't approve of Ben Hunt at hooker as his defence isn't up to it.
My basic problem with St George is that the players lack Mojo and that can't be coached.

Frizell tried to get out of there. And I think if I were GM and Coach I would start thinking long term. IE trade Ben Hunt to a team who could use him e.g Brisbane. St George is a paint by numbers club. That is how they play and that is how their team is line up is constructed.

Game of the round will be Knights v Eels.

I’m sorry, Titans v Warriors is great viewing, Brisbane v Dogs is game of the round,
But Storm v Raiders is meh?

    On what fucking planet?

  13. Cribbage RG Cribb

I think he was actually taking the piss. I wasn't so sure until the second time he said the Bulldogs/Dogs thing. Then his write-up of Melbourne v Canberra haha

    Planet Hurricane?

Storm vs Raiders will obviously be a high quality game of rugby league. Pure entertainment wise it won't be. Expect to see a flawless state of the art performance by Smith for the Storm and calculated percentage play from Canberra. I would watch if it were a playoff match, but it doesn't grip my imagination.

While the Dogs vs Broncos will be real drama. Alex Glenn actually had tears streaming down his face after last weeks loss. What can we expect to see this week as Brisbane have their backs against the wall.

I say both Raiders and Storm will treat the game as a just another game. While Brisbane and Dogs will play like their lives depend on it. I would rather watch the latter game even though I concede of course Raiders vs Storm will be a higher quality game.
Sorry for saying meh. Didn't mean to insult the fans of either side. I quite like both teams (Storm and Raiders) and think they have ticker as well as skill.

Tarty is actually a Titans fan haha. "Game of the round" just has a different meaning on CricSim to what it'd have in the Courier Mail, whose writers I'm sure will agree Brisbane v Cantebury is a national event while most other fans dgaf which of those two teams spoons and which finishes 15th.

(in saying that I do agree with Magic that Brisbane will go on a run at some point)

    Cheers Cribb

And also maybe "Game of the round" is ingrained by the Aussie media to mean the headline game of the week now that I think about how NRL 360 and suchh shows use the term.

I won't use that exact phrase again as I must have a different intent for the word,

  17. Cribbage RG Cribb

Yeah I guess it's weird in that the Courier Mail (Australian paper) would agree with you but Fox Sports (NRL 360 owners) would think you were crazy.

It may be the most interesting game of the round in many ways. It won't be the most high quality, it probably won't be the most entertaining and it certainly won't decide anything in the business end of the season though.

I actually thought you were joking at first but I get it now. Like Canberra v Melbourne is unimportant in that those teams will care much more about what happens in October than early July. Really important game for Canterbury and especially Brisbane though.

I think I get where you're coming from, but yeah I would use game of the round, for the game that's likely to be the best quality/best contest.

For me, Storm/Roosters was clearly going to be, and was, the game of the round.

While Broncos/Warriors was also a fairly close game, that could have serious ramifications, saying that it could be the game of the round just feels wrong.

I reckon you've gotta take into account a number of factors. History between the teams, ladder position, how good the teams actually are, individual matchups and the significance that either team winning or losing may have.

The Dogs are fucking woeful and Brisbane are a middle of the pack team going through a rough pack. The Dogs treat every game as a must win and they do nothing but put up shit performances.

In terms of quality I reckon it's gotta be Melbourne v Canberra. Bit of history between the teams and two good sides. Newcastle and Parra will be good as you've got Gutherson v Ponga, Klemmer & Co v. Paulo & Co and it's a pretty significant match in the top 4 race. Then probably Souths v the Tigers with the Madge and Latrell storylines, last years game being dexided on a last minute try and the fact the match has a huge bearing on who'll scrape into the 8.

I am a N00b to the NRL so it was a case of using the wrong terminology. I probably know more about International league. Will occassionally say something dumb, but I mean well and most of the time have good points to make.

I am totally bought into the Brisbane drama, and also because the Warriors are a cellar dwellar team take a keener interest in the goings on in the bottom half of the draw than the top. Especially now at this stage of the season as teams like Storm, Rabbitohs, Easts aren't even in third gear yet but are winning by 30-40 points. There is a talent divide between the top 6 or so and the other 10. I am not sure if that is a concern to the league administrators but everyone can see that gap and it seems to be cementing. Expansion will thin talent and compound the issue. You may end up with two streams of fans:
elite fans who want to watch eels vs Storm
and mince pie fans/cunts like me who want to see passion and like games like Brisbane vs Dogs.
Raiders vs Storm this week will be a high octane strategic clash between two teams (in third gear in my view based on how early in the season it is).
Brisbane vs Dogs will have athletes who will do anything to win the match.

thanks to you blokes for allowing me to chime in with thoughts from across the ditch :)
