Erasing the points is categorically not an option IMO. They happened, and any resumption of the season needs to deal with that fact. If you can't have a conference system without doing that then you just can't have a conference system AFAIC.

The conference system is not an option at all, IMO.

What does Easts not having a trial and resting their captain have to do with anything?

    Politis is talking shit.

They were making decisions under the assumption that it would be a 30 week season. Accepting that you won't be 100% in the early rounds to make sure you peak at the right point of the season is a tactical decison. When the parameters of the game (in this case number of rounds) change it obviously impacts on previous decisions made.

I fall on the side of thats just bad luck... to the extent where if the competition was reduced to a small enough number of rounds.

We could just Duckworth Lewis it.

Big fat who gives a fuck? As EWS said there is no situation in which those first two rounds should be negated.

I'm surprised anyone even has the temerity to mention their 'tactical decision' as if it could ever make one iota difference.

  6. Magic AJ Parker

He didn't say anything about tactical decisions I'm just assuming thats the angle he's coming at. Making decisions around a 30 round comp and then distorting said competition changes a lot of things around tactics and strategy.

Like I said in cricket they would duckworth lewis that shit and naturally there are polarising views on it, both reasonable and fair points.

Each to their own. I definitely think if its reduced to 12 rounds or less then we should just start fresh. It's a completely different comp at 12 rounds or less.

Suggesting you couldn’t carry your points into a conference system is ridiculous. Everyone’s played 2 games.

  8. Magic AJ Parker

2 games out of 24 compared to 2 games out of 7 is a massive difference. Those points become 4 times as valuable instantly.

A conference system simply won't work. Shouldn't even be discussed. 15 round comp, play 1 each.

Subtracting the byes, city country islander week, and extending the comp for 2 wks or whatever which isn't a big deal, surely there's still time for a proper 20 round comp? and then we have origin at the end of the season instead of aussie tests. any other international tests can still be played.

I dont care what they do as long as it involves playing as many games as possible. I dont know if it's logistically or contractually feasible to play beyond the usual end date but thats what i want to see if in fact it can be done.

If not then you resume asap and finish the year with Origin.

Fairness of the draw, in an already unfair comp, is pretty low on my list of concerns.

Gotta say V'landys so far seems to be doing a top job.

Yeah he's good for rugbah league.

Ugh I would be so annoyed if I had to actually watch Nine, especially since it involves running a cable across my living room floor.

  16. morgieb MC Burridge

So you don't have a proper antenna now? That would've been annoying in the pre-Fox getting cricket rights era. Still might be because Warne.

I do but it's on the wrong wall, hence cable across room.

You can just stream Ch9 these days.

Last time I tried it it didn't work for league/cricket because the sports streaming rights are sold separately.
