Haha, even the likes of Lockyer and Slater in their pomp would have struggled with how our forwards got belted.

Crap. Slater would've offered a lot more in yardage and defensively. Lockyer would've made better decisions in his ball playing.

Ponga is a gun but he's still developing. His ceiling is undoubtedly enormous but he has shown he still has some way to go.

Ponga had a true shocker. Dropped an easy bomb, got beaten in a contest for another that led directly to a try, should've at least had a 50/50 chance of holding up Frizell given he was still juggling the ball but got steamrolled, threw a ridiculous hospital pass to Oates on the attack that saw him bundled into touch on tackle 2 and also two intercepts.

I'd be highly, highly surprised if he didn't finish his career a better player than Tedesco but yeah he's probably not quite there yet. I'd take RTS ahead of both at the moment even though Ponga is definitely my favourite.

Morgan seems wasted at centre. Should be in the halves imo.

  6. Alec AD Funkotron

He doesn't seem defensively up to playing centre... but then neither does Chambers, lol. He could be playing in the halves, but you can't really pick him ahead of Munster or DCE right now.

  7. Paddy P Orr

Really dunno how Chambers keeps getting picked. No better than having picked someone mediocre like O'Neill. Lol

  8. Alec AD Funkotron

I'd go as far as possibly considering picking Opacic lol.

I thought the refs had an absolute shocker.

They let way too much go in the first half and then over compensated in the 2nd half after I'm assuming they received some tips at half time.

That’s fucking ridiculous. He’s the best centre in the world. But yeah okay...

  12. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

Yeah and Tedesco’s lack of a pass cost NSW a try in Game 1 as well. Is that a lack of development or just a lack of ability?

  13. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

There’s no one else to pick.

  14. Alec AD Funkotron

Ponga doesn't have the involvement rate of Tedesco or a Slater. That's what I want to see next, those guys are (well, was in Slater's case) fucking everywhere at all times.

I hope Molo has a couple of blinders over the next couple of weeks. Wouldn't mind seeing him coming off the bench for QLD.

  16. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

That’s certainly true. He’s not on the ball as much. But he’s not an out and out ball runner either as they are and were.

Yeah series on the line is irrelevant in the current situation. It time to blood some rookies. We can’t win with a pack like this.

If Pearce refuses the call-up, who do we pick?

Townsend can probably fill in for Cleary in terms of a like for like player the best, but I think Graham could work with Matterson slotting onto the bench.

  19. Paddy P Orr

Agreed. It's like when we got smashed in Game 1 of 2017, gotta cut any deadwood and start blooding.

Maloney should be 7 if Pearce isn’t. The more control he has the better for NSW. It’s why Penrith went so well last year when Cleary was on the sideline.
