Maybe really struggling is an exaggeration, but he's nowhere near as good as he was in the first half of the year.

Val's the best back in the comp.

Holmes had ongoing issues at fullback prior to the last few months.

There's not enough there yet to suggest that he's not just in a good run of form and not enough to suggest that he could transfer that to a higher level or when he is outside of his current set up at the Sharks.

Kalyn Ponga is just naturally gifted as fuck and already proved he could transfer that over, out of position, in his debut.

It's like asking whether you want to get pizza from Domino's or the local italian family restaurant.

Some local pizza places use shittier ingredients than the chains tbh. Dunno about Dominos, but certainly Pizza Capers at least.

  5. Magic AJ Parker

    Wtf is Pizza Capers.

Ponga automatically fullback until he does an acl or moves to 5/8th for me. Freak talent.

Holmes should be about 4th choice for fullback next year. Ponga has it locked up until he moves to 6 or union.

Ponga at 1, Holmes on the wing. No brainer.

I think Gagai needs to perform in the NRL to be guaranteed a spot. He was insanely good in 2017, but this year he wasn't that great. I think he will fight it out for a spot on the wing with the Goat.

    No he doesn't.

Gagai is a perfect example of a player who grows another leg when he puts on an Origin jersey.

Oates transfers all his good and bad traits to Origin, only thing is an error in an Origin match is worse because of the general lack of soft penalties being awarded.

Well maybe he needs a 4th leg to fix up his defensive issues he showed this year. I don't think Gagai is a Myles type player. I think we will see he just had an awesome series, not that he's a top shelf origin player.

I used to think Chambers was a Nate Myles type player until this series. I’m open to the same thing with Gagai. Mind you, I do think Chambers’ bad series was the anomaly rather than the good ones. Same with Gagai. He’s probably prone to it but it’s the exception rather than the rule.

I’d pick both for Game 1 and hope they’ve sorted their shit out especially Chambers.

Oates did nothing in his recall to suggest he’s more deserving or the better option.

Gagai just gets lazy in regular season cause of his abo genes, he'll probably play good every origin game.

  14. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Goates had a shitty game in his recall, it was probably his worst origin performance. His games previous were much better and he never deserved to lose his place, to be fair. I've got no problem with Gagai being picked again, but after this year he isn't a guarantee like I thought he would be after his 17' series.

It’s really concerning that our two right centre options, Chambers and Gagai neither know how to defend at all any more. Both were absolutely woeful in the second half of the year, defensively. I’d almost play Morgs at this stage.

  16. Toolman TR Man

Chambers was shit in defence before he was ever picked and it's worked out alright, just somewhat luck i guess that he hasn't been exposed much since. He used to make the dumbest misreads back in the day.

  17. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

I was against Chambers back in the day before he went to rugby. But he came back a different player imo and I don’t think he was a liability for Qld. In fact I thought he was very solid defensively. He’s just sunk like a stone this year though.

What's the story with Keary? Is he commiteed NSWelshman yet?

  19. Cribbage RG Cribb

In theory. I've blacklisted him though. I don't want someone who supports Queensland playing for NSW, even if they try to make themselves support NSW once they realise they're not eligible for Queensland.

He probably won't support QLD if he plays for NSW though. These experiences probably change the way you approach Origin. You know, mixing with the NSW fans, bonding with NSW teammates, feeling the atmosphere on the field...
