He said post match that Freddy told him to look for opportunities infield but I think it was a very loose instruction as I'm sure a lot Freddys instructions generally are.

 

I would love to see the Roosters do it with Joey Manu. Shift Crichton into the centres and one of the middles to the 2nd row one we get in the opposition's half.

 

What a blduger this has been, probably end with a ridiculous finish but geez the first 70 has been a grind.

 

Such mixed emotions last night.

Before the game I would've taken a 2 point loss with no Keary, Friend and JWH. Latrell playing 5/8, Radley dummy half I thought they would've done us convincingly but the game was there for the taking we just fucking blew it so many times.

2 rules that need to be changed;

1. You can't deliberately tip a ball over an opposition player. Why is this even a rule? Was it just brought in around the time they stopped players being allowed to pass the ball forward over another player to then regain possession?

2. You shouldn't need to get approval for a player outside of the top 30 to play in first grade. If a club is having to reach outside their top 30 shit clearly hasn't gone well, it's not an advantage. Admittedly I don't rate Drew Hutchinson but what advantage were the Roosters going to get by playing him? They're already disadvantaged by not having Keary available and Lam only returning from a 6 week lay off this week.

I assume they are concerned well off clubs will stack their reserve grade sides with 105k reserve grade players which they probably would but as I said if they're reaching into that pool it's not to gain an advantage. God forbid we start to use the wealth of well off clubs to provide meaningful contracts to those in the lower grades and develop our player pool as a game.
