Agreed. Getting out at the right time too.

Just ftr I still think Josh Mansour is incredibly over rated as a footballer. He's not the best winger positionally and his lack of height really is a massive downfall in the modern game. He did an ok job last year but he did make a crucial error at the worst time in game 3 which can't be forgotten. I'm also of the opinion that those players that base their game around metreage from their own end in NRL games more oft than not can't replicate it at Origin level and if they haven't got much else become a bit obsolete.

I'd absolutely have him ahead of Ferguson (with Trbo first picked). But I'd probably consider a newbie who is showing something or even Dugan (with better centres) being shifted out there before Mansour.

lol fuck it's been entertaining to watch NSW cannibalise each other in the wake of another series loss. The whole Dugan/Ferguson thing is the most passive aggressive wankfest ive seen.

Throw in the Fifita thing, and the Pearce bashing and it's a glorious trifecta. It's almost as satisfying as the series win itself. :p

Gus did a pretty good job in securing the job for Freddy today.

I dunno how you can have a guy as beta as Daley coaching an Origin side.

On Pearce, he just can not be picked again. People keep saying 'well what else is there?????'.

I don't think anyone genuinely thought Hodkinson was a better footballer than Pearce when he was picked, but in that one dummy where he sliced through for the match winner, he showed more than Pearce ever had. Summed a situation and played what was in from of him. Basically all he was, was not Pearce, who no doubt would've poked a grubber through that would've been caught on the full or just dropped the ball on the deck.

I would honestly support the selectors in selecting another back rower at halfback over Pearce. He's been such an overwhelming failure that they must pick anyone else (I am with magic re: his kicks not finding ground, has struck me as a pretty odd criticism and the least of his problems).

    Daley sacked.

Pearce has set up plenty of tries in origin and more in every series than hodkinson did. They would've won that series with pearce. And they always have the option of 6. moylan 7. maloney especially now that moylan is playing at 6 regularly. Even then you still have the same issue, that all of them are shit at 5th tackle options in attack.

    Thank fuck for that!

NSW would not have won that series with Pearce at halfback. Not a fucking chance in the world.

No he hasn't. His strike rate of try assists is quite poor.

why didn't you quote the rest of that sentence? are we back to the old MF who quotes half-sentences just to argue and avoids the whole point? any halfback would've won that series. hodkinson didn't even do anything. he's one of the worst halves in the comp. you guys are acting like Pearce can't even win one game. he has won games with NSW. it was sheer luck that that series played out like it did, if Thaiday had grounded it or even a simple lucky bounce could've lead to QLD winning and none of you would be saying anything good about hodkinson. your entire opinion would change over a fucking bounce. do you realise how stupid that sounds? it's because he did absolutely nothing to suggest he had any influence whatsoever in that series win so you can't give him credit, if anything he made the series closer than it should have been with his incompetence.

i know exactly why yous think hodkinson helped win it, and that was by doing nothing except doing lame kicks at the end of every set into the corner to grind it out, and even then half of his kicks were still shit and didn't get into the corners. what you're not realising is that he got to kick it at the attacking 30m almost every single set because NSW's forwards were so good, yet he had no creativity whatsoever to capitalise on it. Pearce has spent nearly every series booting it from the 40m line. NSW's forwards won that series and I find it very hard to believe that with that much dominance Pearce would've failed to set up a single try in that 2nd match.

Do yous not remember what the scoreline was in game 3?

When you put an 'and' it sort of seperates the two thoughts contained within the sentence. The first half is not contingent on the latter half. He could've created plenty of tries and still had fewer than Hodkinson, for example. I can't believe I'm actually having to explain this to you.

Secondly I didn't say shit about Hodkinson but given he scored the winning try in a pressure moment, that counts for a hell of a lot more than Pearce laying on a try when they're down by 30.

Fittler will be coach imo. I'd be a little bit worried about player selections with him at the helm.

So with Cronk pretty much a shoe in to play on, who partners him? Milford, DCE, Morgan, Munster, Hunt and Norman all options.

    I'm thinking:
    Slater/Boyd
    Boyd/Goates/Holmes
    Chambers
    Munster
    Gagai
    Milford
    Cronk

You know Inglis is still alive yeah? Munster or Morgan in the halves. Pretty hard to drop Munster given his debut.

No he hasn't and I really don't think we would have. My biggest criticism of Pearce is that he never plays what's in front of him, when he decides to run the ball he decides 2 or 3 tackles ahead of time, its why he so often gets crunched stepping back in to traffic, or when we have an overlap he drops it on the deck in his attempt to kick it, or throws a 25 metre forward pass off a kick off etc etc etc

That try Hodkinson scored was from just simply playing what was in front of him, they were set to his outside, he shaped to pass, saw it opened up and darted through. If that were Pearce Im almost positive he would've:

    a) put a grubber through to be caught on the full
    b) dropped it cold
    c) thrown a slightly misdirected longer ball holding up the attacking line

Pearce as an origin player is so beyond cooked it's a joke.

I fucking love Mansour, he's such an important cog the Penriths wheel but he should almost certainly never play on the wing for NSW (unless you were going for some kind of ultra mobile pack and needed hard yards from your wide men). He's just too unreliable and prone to come up with a derp fuck up at a crucial time. Ive always thought you're best off going for Nightingale/Luke Burt/Sam Perrett/David Simmons types on your wings in rep games. I agree that Mansour should be there ahead of Ferguson.
