    I actually don't mind leaving Trbojevic in the front row as I thought he performed well there last series.

    If definitely be picking Finucane or DeBellin over Jackson though.

    Gonna have a crack at the QLD side, this is what I would pick, I know there will be several others included that I've left out.

    2. Goates
    3. Chambers
    4. Inglis
    5. Gagai
    6. Milford
    7. Morgan
    8. Scott
    9. Smith
    10. Napa
    11. Papalii
    12. Gillett
    13. McGuire

    14. Hunt
    15. Wallace
    16. Hess
    17. Glasby/Cooper/Lillyman

    I've left out Boyd and Slater as I think their time is done. Boyd looks injured and disinterested this year. Goates over Holmes on the wing because of how much his yardage will be needed with a weak forward pack. The number 17 was hard to pick, could be anyone from a small list.

    I think we've missed a trick not picking a lock like Trbojevic in series past, having someone that's essentially a third prop for that opening 15 minutes would be massive. I think Aidan Tolman would've been a good fit for the role once upon a time.

    That's not a bad idea as I think we have a bunch of really good locks who, although they obviously play up the guts and make lots of metres in their roles, I just don't think could really cut it as genuine props at Origin level. De Belin, Brown, Merrin, Finucane etc.

    It'd mean we might be able to get rid of Woods without picking someone I don't think is quite good enough, like McLean. But we'll probably pick McLean and Woods and still not have Trbojevic at lock. Sigh. :laugh:

    Nah I've never bought the McLean hype really. I'd sooner move a lock into the prop rotation than pick him, and I don't really want to do that either.

    He’s certainly ahead of McLean in my books but I don’t think either of them are Origin standard atm.

    NSW really don't need to get cute with their selections tbh. Just pick the four best props based on metreage and defensive competence. Cordner and Frizle pick themselves, and Trbojevic is perfect for some variation; footwork, subtle passing, offloads etc. Play through the middle, finish sets well, and tackle hard and efficiently. And ffs stop wasting the bench utility spot on centres playing hooker.

    I mean it's honestly not that hard to structure a side that will more often than not, beat the likely QLD side.

    Fittler though, I've noticed, is prone to the flash in the pan, fad of the moment type shit. His side could be anything and that's a big positive for us.

    We don't have enough decent props to not afford not doing this anymore. I'd much rather pick De Belin or Brown than McLean or RCG, even if it means using Trbojevic as more of a battering ram than would be entirely ideal.
