While bizarre, surely Brownie has a say?

However, it could be an existing admin getting his final say-so before being replaced.

Roosters have him now, they've paid a release fee to get Souths to release him.

Warriors rubbish reports of signing Broncos' prop Matt Lodge for next season

    source: https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/leagu...gning-broncos-prop-matt-lodge-for-next-season

The Warriors have dismissed reports they are close to signing Matt Lodge from the Broncos.

Over the past few days there have been a number of media outlets saying that the club are interested in the 25-year-old prop on a three-year, multi-million dollar deal.

However, Warriors’ recruitment and development manager Peter O’Sullivan told Stuff on Sunday that the reports couldn’t be further from the truth.

“Where all the speculation has come from, I have no idea,” O’Sullivan said.

“Neither myself or anyone from the club has spoken with Matt or his manager about any offer to come to the Warriors.

It’s just pure speculation and I have no idea where it started from.”

The Warriors have plenty of players for the middle next season, with Addin Fonua-Blake, Kane Evans and Ben Murdoch-Masila all joining the club for 2021 and beyond.

“We’re right for our middles, obviously when we signed Addin, that closed us off in that department,” O’Sullivan said.

“It’s not anything we’ve talked about and right now, our spots are full.

“So it’s complete rubbish and I have no idea who’s fuelling it, to where it’s coming from, but certainly nothing is coming from my end, or Matthew’s end.”

The Warriors have all 30 places on their roster filled for next season, so the only way the club could bring someone in would be if they were able to move on one of their current players.

Meanwhile, Warriors coach Nathan Brown has also recently shut down reports that they are talking to the Melbourne Storm’s Jahrome Hughes about a move to the club for 2022, when the playmaker comes off his current contract.

“I can honestly say we haven’t spoken to Jahrome Hughes,” Brown told Triple M’s Rush Hour with MG.

“What a terrific player, he’s been outstanding but we feel very confident in young Chanel Harris-Tavita, he played under ‘Mooksy’ (Stephen Kearney) and got around 30 games and Kodi Nikorima had his best year last year too.”

The Warriors have Harris-Tavita locked in until the end of the 2022 season.

Nikorima has an option in his favour for 2022 and until he indicates that he won’t take that option up, the club won’t go seriously looking for another experienced half.

    Nathan Brown. The New coach.

Do you really think he's worth the supposed 500K Broncs were paying him? I dunno. He's a "workhorse", his attack is nothing special and his defence is abysmal. He's like a Chinese bootleg version of Haas. He's probably worth about 300 right now, but the Broncos blew their load (while also re-signing Lodge and TPJ, just terrible balance), probably because he was picked for QLD.

I think he is a high quality bench prop, and should never start, coming off the bench suits his game even if he is a better player than the starting prop. 500K is his absolute ceiling price tag, and while I'd prefer him on less it's not exactly bad. He had an absolute shocking year, but not many at Brisbane didn't.

They must plan on latrelling him into a centre for 2022 when j.morris is gone.

Widdop wanting back in the NRL, think anyone will go for him?

  12. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Plenty should with the price he is asking.

With Jeynolds going to Super League I wonder if the Benj will get a last minute lifeline from le tigrés.

Mentioned it to Lukic off the forum but I think if this had been arranged months ago it probably would have meant that. As it stands both parties would have swallow a lot of pride over the drama and I don't see it happening.

It just felt like it kept coming back to being too many halves and too much salary cap eaten up by them, thought maybe they'd all agree to make up and go forward, Benji was very diplomatic in all his public statements etc

  16. Lukic L Popovic

More likely we grab Widdop tbh, but I think we're just gonna roll with Doueihi 6 and Brooks 7.

  17. Cribbage RG Cribb

Yeah I agree, but I think it would have had to have been "Tigers not sure if Marshall offered contract" etc instead of the finality of the statements that were made.

If Reynolds was offloaded ages ago he would've been kept IMO. But not to be.

Storm wanting a stiff price from anyone who takes Brandon smith in 2022 instead of 2023 when his contract expires

    dogs offering Dylan Napa
Titans want smith badly and storm want tino back as compensation

proud of the warriors for staying clear of this circus

  19. Magic AJ Parker

I don’t think he’s that good as a dummy half.

  20. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Smith's cult figure status is going to get him way overs. I wouldn't trade Turpin for him.
