    Hi

A thread for random questions and thoughts or even memories of random games you wanted to bring up.

First question is for morgie and Cribb:

Am going to run a silent auction draft on my warriors league forum. There will be about ten participants.

What are some good rules and procedures that will make a successful draft based on playing similar things on CW? some advice appreciated or if anyone else knows about these things?

    Cheers

My advice is that you should look elsewhere for draft advice because things tend to be left unfulfilled here.

In terms of random memories...this clip is fantastic.
A little bitch called Ben Ross tries to face wash Gorden Tallis in a tackle.
Why the fuck would you face wash Tallis? Ross then gets his beats like the bitch he is. Here is the fantastic footage..

By the way if I ever see Ben Ross walking around I am going to pop him one too, just because that is what you do to bitches like him.

  5. jazman84 JM Eightyfour

Wendall snaps his arm in an arm-wrestle too.

    LOL.
I just found the footage. This is even better, Thank you so much Jazman!

I googled Ross as his bitchness has piqued my curiosity and there is even a third incident!!!!!

Here's footage of Ben Ross again getting knocked the fuck into next week this time by Brett White.

Ross again asks for it with a dog shot elbow on the opposing half back. Such a grubby cunt that gets his just deserts here.

I think for some reason I actually hate Ben Ross.

For those wanting a reminder of what became of Ben Ross

"After suffering neck injury playing for Cronulla in the opening round of the 2009 NRL season Ross was sidelined for the remainder of the season. Vowing to return to the playing field, he was thrown a lifeline by the South Sydney Rabbitohs who gave him a contract. After undergoing surgery and rehabilitation, almost two years later Ross made his return to the playing field for South Sydney in the 2010 NRL season.[7]

Ross announced his retirement at the end of the 2013 NRL season. In the 2014 pre-season he rejected an offer to play in the Super League for the London Broncos, preferring to take up a welfare management role with the Men of League Foundation.[8]"

Wait have found more pay dirt by googling. Ben Ross wanted to sue channel nine after his arm was broken

Former NRL star Ben Ross considers legal action after breaking arm on live TV

Wendell Sailor and Ben Ross' arm wrestle on The Footy Show in June 2015.
Former Queensland prop Ben Ross is considering legal action against Australian broadcaster Channel Nine after the "absolute tortuous" pain he lives with from the horrific broken arm he suffered live on an episode of the Footy Show in 2015.

Ross told Australia's Daily Telegraph he faces a fourth operation after revealing he would now have permanent nerve damage in his right arm. He sustained the injury during an on-air arm wrestle with former Kangaroos and Wallabies winger Wendell Sailor which went catastrophically wrong.

The former Dragons, Panthers, Sharks and Rabbitohs prop, who has spent thousands of dollars after sustaining damage to his elbow, nerves and shoulder, says he endures constant pain and struggles to surf or swim.
Ross has also been forced to employ extra staff for his own company, Epic Party Hire, because he can't lift anything over 10 to 20kg.
The 37-year-old told the Daily Telegraph legal action was still a possibility because he believes Channel Nine should help cover his ongoing medical costs.

"Definitely, it has to be. If I'm out-of-pocket or my company has been affected in a number of ways, that compensation has to be forthcoming," Ross said.

"I really don't want to take legal action against Nine but you'd think they'd have some type of responsibility in compensation, in some way. But I've haven't heard anything.

"I've got nothing against Nine and they have had a change of CEO in that time.

"But I've got permanent nerve damage in there at the moment. It is a burning, numbing feeling. It will be good one day, the next day it will be absolute torturous.

"They said it will never go back to what it was. I'll never lift big weights again. I can't do normal things, like surfing, swimming, those things are a bit of a struggle now."

Ross, who played in the NRL between 2002 and 2013 and six times in Origin in 2004 and 2005, also faces a shoulder replacement in the coming years but doesn't know how much that might cost.

"I wouldn't have a clue mate. I haven't added them up. They are the things you have to contemplate," he added.

"I think it has cost me more in paying people to do my work for the party hire.

"It's more lifting stuff. Anything over 10 to 20 kilograms you start to feel the pain and you pay for it the next day, which is a hard thing.

"I've got a party hire company and I can't lift - I've got to pay people to do the job I was doing. It makes it a lot harder to get work done."

LOL "struggles to surf or swim"
Then maybe don't surf and swim anymore.
How about that as the answer Ben.

I don't know many adults who either surf or swim so stop acting like is a violation of your personal rights.

And his thing about not being able to lift 20kg weights any more and it impacting his job. Do you have to have a job which involves lifting 20kg weights? I have never lifted anything heavy in my job.
Cab drivers don't have to live weights. Neither do plumbers or electricians. Get a trade Ben like everyone else.

Strongly disagree with your sentiment here.
9 has to have some duty of care over guests on their shows.

He had surgery, major medical bills
and then had difficulty carrying out his work, for the company he owns, or partaking in his existing hobbies.

The answer to that isn't "get a new job and new hobbies"
You not having to lift heavy objects has nothing to do with him needing to.

My sentiment is appalling at an objective level. Laughing at the poor sod for having his arm snapped is not an admirable sentiment. You are morally correct to disagree.

From a legal perspective this is not a clear cut case. And I would argue that channel nine should not pay.

The risks of entering an arm wrestling contest against a powerful opponent are inherently obvious.
For example if Wendell Sailor challenged me to an arm wrestle I would immediately decline and so would all the sensible members of this message board. Not because we might lose but because it would be glaringly apparent he might break my arm.
My arm may get broken wound immediately go through my mind and I would decline.
I suggest, based on a number of well reasoned posts you have made tartmaster that the chance of a broken arm would occur to you also and that you also would decline.

Ben Ross needs to accept some accountability

By freely entering he acknowledged the risks and accepted them

Ben Ross frequently thinks he is a lot tougher and bigger than what he is and he doesn’t deserve compensation because he is an errant decision maker.

    1) he face washed Tallis and expected Tallis would just take it. Dumb decision.
    2) he took out Cronk with a blatant elbow and expected to get away with it. Dumb decision.
    3) he agreed to an arm wrestle on tv against a professional athlete who can probably bench 150 kgs. Dumb decision

And yes if I were legal counsel for channel 9 I would make the judge aware that Ben Ross is a habitual Risk taker and needs to accept the consequences of his poor choices.

  13. Tartmaster AJ James

I would certainly turn down an arm wrestle with a professional athlete who can probably bench 150 kgs.
Although if I was also a professional athlete who can probably bench 150 kgs, as Ben Ross is, I might consider it.

And if your opinion there held weight and this was a foreseeable circumstance, then it would put ch9 at more fault for organising it.

Btw I have no love for Ross as a person or a player, I think he was a little bitch on the field, but I was/am defo on his side in this situation

  14. AVA T Delonge

Yeah, if on a whim Ross was like fuck yeah, let's arm wrestle and broke his arm, channel 9 would be well within their rights to tell him to go fuck himself. But in organising the segment and presumably asking him to do it, they take any risk upon themselves and are at fault for not considering the consequences.

Hurricane made some strange points earlier on about not caring about his ability to swim or do his usual job, but I agree with him despite that.

If it was some Footy Show prank where Ross didn't know what he was getting into then I'd absolutely side with him, but as far as I know he totally consented to have an arm-wrestling match with Dell knowing full well what an arm wrestle entailed and that Dell was strong as an ox. If something untoward happened then I think he'd have a point, but I think it was just a normal arm-wrestle gone wrong.

Of course the law regularly doesn't agree with me because governments have undertaken a war on risk and personal responsibility. He may have a legal case. He doesn't have a just or moral one IMO.

I'm not a pro athlete, but before I hurt my neck could do 150kg bench for several reps fairly easily. Yet know a bloke who doesn't work out and can destroy me, and other much bigger blokes in an arm wrestle. It's such a unique strength to do it.

  18. Hurricane JD Hurricane

Why do they accept the risk by asking him. Would you as Ben Ross's lawyer advise him it would be sensible to agree to a tv arm wrestle with Sailor?

And if you were his lawyer and the little fucking bitch came whining to you about some pins and needles feelings in his arm would you happily feel confident you could win his case and get great compensation for him not being able to
    a) swim
    b) surf with his bogan 30 year something year old friends who havn't grow up yet and are still doing teenager hobbies
    c) not being able to lift heavy 20 kg weights for some fucked up business that all concerned know is going to last another 12 months primarily because he is the manager and any management decisions Ben Ross makes will be equally imbecilic as agreeing to arm wrestle Wendall Sailor.

The little bitch is always doing things like this and he needs to pay the piper for once. He face washed Tallis which is dumb and then tried to act like he was victim when Tallis ran after him, and he attempted to even hide behind the referee's skirts while Tallis thumped the loser.
Words can not express how much he karmically had that snapped arm and pain for the rest of his life coming to him.
He could have done serious damage to Cronk with that dog act elbow I showed in the footage in one of the earlier posts. It is a no-no to dog act on a half when he puts a bomb and Ben Ross did it anyway. Why do you have any sympathy for him. Absolutely as Nine's lawyer I would bring other examples of your potential theoretical clients complete bitchness into the court for consideration.
I would also put the following people on the stand
    Brett White
    Cooper Cronk
    Various referees
    Gorden Tallis
And as my surprise witness I would put Ben Ross's parents on the stand and cross examine until they conceded that Ben Ross had been a disobedient and disrespectful child.

The legal test is what would a reasonable person do.
A reasonable person and including 95% of all NRL players would turn down a live arm wrestle on TV with another NRL player who can benchpress 150 kg.
Ben Ross's decision to accept the arm wrestle fails the reasonable person test.

And I knew you were going to say that because you are eminently sensible. All your posts are lucid are well thought through.
It was not lucid for Ben Ross to agree to a arm wrestle on TV with Wendall Sailor because hes is not a professional arm wrestler.
Being a former NRL player like Ben Ross is, does not give him any qualifications in safe or durable arm wrestling techniques.
They do not practice arm wrestling at pre-season or any NRL training camps.

Missed this point when I read earlier.
This is a fine retort. And I need to conceed there is merit to this rejoinder.
Which is why I am not necessarily saying I am absolutely correct, my post stated that the legal case is not clear cut.
It is unlikely that Ben Ross would have a sniff at winning because it is a grey issue and he would get out "lawyered" by ch 9. Ben Ross couldn't afford a strong legal team and because his case is 50 50 at best he would have no chance. I wouldn;t even offer to settle if I were channel 9.
