Yeah and I thought Brailey was perfect for Pearce.

McCullough is actually a terrible match for Pearce IMO but it was probably worth a punt anyway if the alternative was some sort of Randall/Watson/Lino combination. He'll definitely add a lot to their middle third defence which has been a serious problem at times, and even though his service is terrible and Pearce is very reliant on good service, they're not exactly putting a quality dummy half passer on the shelf to play him now so it's worth a punt at least. If he sucked I'd not hesitate in dropping him for Randall though, and if he hangs around like a bad smell next year when Brailey is back it'll be a bit of a disaster.

 

Yeah Cheeks is a perfect low-budget bench player.

 

He's not gonna come off every game. But:
- Can cover backs at an absolute pinch, might be the next best fit outside back at the club atm actually
- Loves running at tired players late in the game
- Second row bench players shouldn't be there as relief, they should be there to be dynamic as starting second rowers should be able to cope with 70+, fits Cheeks perfectly (although maybe not in a team with Luciano starting)
- Costs fuck all

If you're not carrying two hookers he's an absolutely perfect bench option IMO.

 

I think the price is fine if he's actually going to play wing. Hearing some thing about him going there to play centre though which would make it a mistake from them IMO.,

 

Centres get paid more but do less work. Of course they want to be centres.

We need the casual fans and dumb recruitment officers to figure out how much more important wingers are than centres in the modern game before players follow the thinking.
