They were ahead of the rate, with 18 overs to go, and had two set batsmen at the crease, and lost 6 wickets for 25.

This would be the Windies without Shai Hope

Yeah it's one thing to collapse like that when the asking rate is high, but realistically 95% of the time sides will walk to victory in that case.

Guess the sim proves its realism then!

Decent returns on debut. No complaints. Useful when you’ve got a decent score to defend though.

  6. Riddy JH Ridd

    All those starts for SA!

Weaver looks like a solution to a lot of problems alongside a strong debut for Davis. I'm about to announce my retirement

2nd ODI will be tonight, either an unchanged lineup or one set by @Baxter

SA just doesn't have a tail, seems realistic enough

    Weaver is our man.

    THIS!

South Africa won the toss and opted to bat.

    10 overs: South Africa 43/1

After a rocky last game, Dyer was back on song in the second ODI with a strong new ball spell, the left armer dismissing de Kock for a 10. At the other end Hashim Amla was frustrated and found himself unable to rotate the strike early, but began to open up as De Villiers joined him at the crease.

    20 overs: South Africa 102/3

Gareth Weaver's second over saw the South Africans in a shambles, De Villiers dismissed lbw before a poor call had Du Plessis run out for just 1. Unfortunately the spinners were unable to build on the seamers' strong work. JP Duminy joined Amla for a fifty stand, and the left hander provided a bit of momentum with a trio of boundaries off Chewie.

    30 overs: 130/3

That momentum was swiftly arrested as CricSim applied the handbrake, first unexpectedly by Langdon Alger who bowled a tight spell of six overs for 16 runs, while Davis was tidy at the other end. Amla scraped his way to fifty off 90 balls.

    40 overs: South Africa 168/7

The stand was ended by the returning Weaver, who trapped JP Duminy lbw for 41. Alger held on to his miserly approach, and South Africa were going absolutely nowhere when David Miller decided to target Devon Mace. Again a wicket fell in a bowler's first over as Chewie took a blinder at slip.

Amla (63 off 117 at this stage) finally decided to get on with it, hitting Alger for a six and four in his final over, but the offspinner claimed a much deserved wicket when Pretorious tried to follow suit and was stumped for 0. Dyer became the fourth bowler to pick up a wicket on being subbed in (Morris bowled) to complete a miserable period for the home side.

48.1 overs: South Africa 204 all out

Weaver and Dyer picked up a third wicket each as the innings spluttered towards its end. Amla was still there but was reduced to rotating the strike and letting the tailenders have a go, and a handful of boundaries from the lower order was enough to lift South Africa over 200. Dyer finished off proceedings by finding Steyn's edge to set CricSim a very comfortable target. Amla carried his bat for 89 off 143.
