    Mahmathlai
    Matt James
    Tom Delonge
    Oscar Wood
    Bobby Hawke
    Jono Chewie
    Devon Mace
    Squeak Scolari
    Langdon Alger
    Andrew James
    Chad Dyer

Mahmathlai gets a recall after probably never deserving to be dropped. O'Driscoll resumes his position as both backup opener and backup keeper.
Middle-order spots are hard to get past with the Delonge/Wood/Hawke triumvirate all averaging over 50 in their careers to date.
Mace's runs in the recent series see him promoted a spot to form a batting and bowling combo with Jono Chewie.
With an expected heavy reliance on spin bowling in the upcoming series the selectors felt compelled to pick one frontliner. After Lewis shat the bed, Alger's time comes once again.
James and Dyer retain their front line seamer spots leaving just one spot remaining.
Not content with going with just the 5 bowling options ruled O'Driscoll and Read out of contention for the last spot. Somebody capable of balancing the tail and the expectation that the third seamer wouldn't be required for a full 10 meant Cambridge was once again consigned to the bench.
In the end, Squillari's late innings against India many moons ago got him over the line. A fleeting glimpse of adequacy was still more than Weaver had ever shown in his, albeit limited, opportunities.

I don't feel as though 'pick all the seamers' is playing to our strengths at home, unfortunately.

Sources tell me that Davis is a weapon with the red ball, however.

At least I get a chance to start in the rugby sims... even if only by default.

    THIS!

Australia won the toss and opted to bat.

    10 overs: Australia 16/2

Australia's first innings of their tour was rattled by a display of top class new ball bowling. Khawaja was the first to go, struck in front by Dyer, and at the other end Warner nicked off as James got the new cherry to move away nicely. The boundary looked a long way away, and Steve Smith crawled to 6* (29) at the 10 over mark.

    20 overs: Australia 52/2

Smith and Cartwrigth dug in, and started to find a little fluency against the change bowlers, avoiding a collapse being the priority rather than counter-attacking. Devon Mace was hit back over his head for four by Cartwright, but bowled a maiden to the right-hander for his third over.

    30 overs: Australia 118/3

Cricsim's spinners weren't able to make the most of the pressure as Smith and Cartwright compiled composed fifties, choosing to target Alger and Chewie and successfully hitting both out of the attack. Jono Chewie wasn't quite beaten however. The allrounder partnered with the returning Andrew James to take a fine slip catch to dismiss Cartwright for 57.

    40 overs: Australia 177/5

With Smith established, Peter Handscombe looked to accelerate Australia's scoring and he found himself able to do so against Mace, the legspinner's figures ending up an average 0-43 after 10. With the fifty stand raised, Alger was thrown the ball for a second spell and struck immediately to snare Smith for a valubale if slow 73 (100). Next, a change of ends made Scolari the third bowler to strike in the first over of a spell, removing the dangerous Handscombe for a run a ball 33.

49.5 overs: Australia 242 all out

Despite the wickets falling, Alger was unable to keep the runs down and suffered at the hands of Wade and Faulkner. Scolari was hit for a few boundaries too, but responded well to pick up the wicket of Faulkner in his final over. As Australia smashed past 200 amid the wickets, there was one over still needed to come from the spinners. Chewie stepped up to fill the gap, and delivered by removing Wade.

That left the Australian pace bowling quartet to get as many as they could against the impressive James and Dyer. It wasn't especially successful for them, and while Cummins did well to bat out the overs, the Cricsim seamers picked up a wicket each. When last pair Cummins and Hazlewood scored only one from Dyer's final over, they risked a single off the fifth ball and Cummins was run out by Wood. Cricsim needed 243 to win.

    10 overs: Cricsim 48/0

As if to show the Australians how to do it, James and Mahmathlai resumed their successful opening partnership and made confident progress towards another half century stand.

    20 overs: Cricsim 82/1

With confidence high against the fast new ball pair, Matt James became stuck and nervous against the slower change seamers, and James Faulkner grabbed the opener's wicket lbw. Mahmathlai on the other hand looked in great form as he raised a half century.

    30 overs: CricSim 123/2

While Mahmathlai made serene progress towards the Cricsimmers' target, Delonge was troubled by the pace of Cummins, who had been held back to 3rd change by the Australians. The number three made 21 (40) before being caught on the boot by a yorker. Cricsim had wickets in hand, but the run rate required was now creeping up past a run a ball.

  16. Howe JHF Howe

    40 overs: CricSim 183/2

The loss of partners failed to faze Mahmathlai. The opener brought up his hundred with a glorious six over square leg off Faulkner, raising his hundred from 120 balls.

With Oscar Wood bedding in nicely, the home side needed 60 from the last 10 overs.

  17. Howe JHF Howe

    47 overs: Cricsim 245/3

Wood couldn't make the stand last, as he was removed by Hastings, but Mahmathlai put Cricsim fans' fears to bed with a pair of brutal sixes off Cummins in the next over. Bobby Hawke chipped in with a typically fast scoring cameo to bring the chase to a convincing close.

    Cricsim won by seven wickets
