Surely Madge Maguire, finally someone starts Thompson at the back.

Has to be Hasler. Was expecting the scumbags bottom 4.

I like the way Easts play, but Storm and Raiders will give me a better GF IMO

I just read what I posted last week

Roosters should already have this game in the bag, but just can't seem to land a killing blow.

Surely Keary gets suspended for next week? I remember Turpin getting two weeks for an accidental swinging arm. Keary's was kinda deliberate, clearly retaliation and frustration from being palmed off.

That game was a perfect example of what the 'refereeing overhaul' a few yrs ago was supposed to stop, but hilariously their changes are what created it. It was just a slow boring slog of lying in the ruck all night typical of roosters and Melbourne. But because the refs now blow penalties for the littlest of things mostly to stop any head contact whatsoever they cannot then blow ruck penalties on top of that without having so many penalties that it in itself slows the game down and ruins any flow. I still can't believe that Tetevano tackle around the 43rd min or so was a penalty and in a tight game that kind of crap can completely change the game. It makes you not want to bother watching when the ref is just arbitrarily deciding results.

    Are you drunk?

  9. Lukic L Popovic

Yeah reffing at an all time low. Slow the ruck and win games. All that matters.

Maybe I forgot that this is the Roosters, and of course that means he'll never get suspended. Guess I just wanted consistency.

Had both clubs finishing Bottom 4 ITBT. In that sense I think what Stuart's done with Canberra is more impressive.

In any case, surely Stuart > Hasler if they win?

Most people had Canberra around the middle of the ladder, just missing the eight, I think. If you had them bottom four it's on you and you alone. :p

Stuart made some ballsy calls with his team this year -- let both of his big props walk to focus on tightening up the middle third defence and being able to last 80, moved Wighton to 6 even though they had two pretty good halves but no recognised fullback replacement, not to mention him sucking last time that was tried, brought over some more pommies -- and they all worked, but between how much better Manly were this year than was expected despite copping a bunch of injuries and I think crucially that it was Hasler's first year and he did it immediately, I'm giving it to him regardless of who wins on Sunday.

Spoiled for riches this year though. Stuart's efforts this year would've made him my pick in almost every other year, haha.

Yeah if you saw the Manly squad, and said Trbo would be injured majority of the year, you'd put the house on a spoon.

I’m happy with Keary being able to play the gf.

I think we’re on a slippery slope though. I think he gets off simply because he’s an 80kghalf. If Kaufusi does that to him he’d get suspended

Actually I reckon if any big player did that they’d get suspended. It was a pretty blatant high swinging arm with more malice than most I’ve seen recently from a standing start.

Kent nailed it on 360 last night. There is no way that was careless. He intentionally went in with a swinging arm in retaliation after copping a palm. I don't think he should miss any game for it, letterlone a GF, penalty on the field should be all. But going from this years standard, he should have been binned and suspended.

Intention to hurt isn't enough to upgrade a charge. The intent needs to be there to hit him high and his first contact was around the chest and then slid up under his jaw so that's a tough argument to make.

Most aggressive tackles have an intent to hurt, that's the nature of our game.

If he actually hit him flush then I'd agree but he missed.

If Kafusi didn't go off because of his rib injury I doubt we'd even be talking about it.

  18. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

But that's the whole point of it being a 'careless' charge. You just agreed there was intent. It should have been reckless grade 1.

  19. Magic AJ Parker

Intent to hurt. Not Intent to hit him high.

I think he meant to hit him in the chest as that was his first point of contact. Do you think he meant to hit him high?

There is nothing illegal about having the intent to hurt. It's Rugby League, it's one of the things that sets our game apart from others. The game is already sanitised enough, if we are concerned because he was angry and tried to smash someone then I don't know where you start drawing the line...

He hit him in the throat/chin with a swinging arm. If you use a swinging arm at the upper chest, that is reckless. Again, I'm not saying he should be suspended. But going off what has happened so far this year, he should have been sin binned and suspended.
