Cunts haven't shown many signs of getting better its fucking frustrating.

Is Thurston as good of a first receiver as Michael Morgan?

I'm guessing that must be the question most Cowboys fans are asking...

I would consider making Morgan first receiver. Pretty much had to be last year and he got better at it. Considering he will have to be once Thurston's gone he should be the one at first receiver.

I don't know if Morgan is better per se but it's certainly a better structural move imo. Morgan should be halfback because it's a natural, organic way of taking pressure off Thurston. JT is not the player he once was, be it age catching up to him or his recovery from yet another shoulder injury. But it has to be a genuine, traditional five-eighth role meaning playing with long sweeps giving Thurston time and space much wider from A and B defenders. That takes pressure off him without actually excluding him completely from the play. And he's more dangerous. I've always said Thurston is the best second receiver since Lewis and I'm still convinced of that.

What they're doing now is just splitting the halves and simply playing way too much to Morgan's side; on the right.

McClean out for 3 months. Seemed apt that an injury would occur.

Well no wonder why Green hasn't been worried, he already knew his contract was getting extended.

Wonder if the players knew and if they used it as a pitiful excuse to underperform.

Still same problems exist and these ideas could have changed them before it was too freakin late.

Green's refusal to play youth and keeping shit cunts like O'Neill is annoying as fuck.

From an outsiders perspective there seems to be very few players who have come through the system whilst Green has been there that have really gone on to establish themselves as first graders.

Cohen Hess is one, but he's tapered off hugely.

You could argue Granville too given how little footy he played before arriving at the Cowboys but even that's a bit of a stretch.

I don't why exactly but I've really enjoyed following Brad Arthur, Trent Robinson, Michael Mcguire & Paul Green's careers over the past 5 or so years.

All 4 are in their early 40's, all started their career's around the same time, all had relatively early success & I rate all 4 pretty highly.

The one common occurrence is they've all had 1 shockingly bad year and it generally seems to come after 4 or 5 seasons of taking the job.

For Mcguire it was in 2016 when they finished 12th
For Robinson it was in 2016 when we finished 15th
For Paul Green & Brad Arthur it seems to be this year.

I'm really interested to see how Arthur and Green bounce back.

Mcguire obviously didn't bounce back, Robinson did.

The concerning thing is Nth Qld are stronger on paper than they were last year. Easts were a lot weaker iirc. I think the Cows will bounce back as Green is definitely a good coach. But there’s something clearly wrong mentally with the players that needs to be fixed.

Jake Clifford possibly making his debut for the Cows. Seems like a really talented half, going really well in QLD Cup, was MOTM in the U20s Origin this year too.

Hope he does and many others in the QLD cup should be in the team ahead of current passengers.

Need to persist with Clifford. He was far from our problem last night. Our middle third defence is disgusting. Granville is probably lucky along with Hess to still be in first grade.

Green just seems kinda overrated as a coach (is he still rated?), he doesn't seem like the type of guy with good ideas. He started off so well, but now there are so many alarm bells about him.

Green is a little like McGuire, Stuart etc. Early success has actually hindered them because they think they’ve found a formula for success and in turn they become, well, formulaic. They persist year after year and their teams never evolve. Green still has the same plays and structure they’ve had for years. McGuire got incredibly stale towards the backend at Souths and Stuart thinks that if there’s a problem they just need to try whatever they’re doing but even more so.

A lot of coaches fall into that trap imo. As opposed to Bellamy, Hasler, Robinson...

Formulaic is the problem they had last year. Would have thought Green would have learned that even with JT there the formula was gonna be exposed eventually and now it's worsened.

Having said that Green took them to their first and only premiership, a GF without Thurston and Scott and several semis and prelims.

But for the side he’s had on paper, the last season and a bit has been extremely poor.
