Should just follow Basketball and not allow penalty shots until there's been 5 indscretions in a half.

Nothing worse than sitting down to watch a game and seeing some cunt spending 2 minutes lining up for a goal after 2 or 3 fucking sets.

I think as soon as there is a penalty inside the opposition 20 that is obviously deliberate, the captain should be given a warning that the next penalty will result in a sinbinning. If teams know they can't get away with multiple bullshit holding down and offside penalties, then it will stop, and penalty goals will go down. I fucking hate seeing 3-5 penalties before a warning is given. And a warning should last the entire half, none of this shit where a warning is given and it's forgotten about once they get the ball.

Would you make penalties inside the 20 be differential and not be given penalty goal option? Make it where they can only take penalty goals from 30 or further?

  4. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

That gives sides even more reason to give them away.

  5. Wilson SB Wilson

Yep because allowing referees who can't even apply common sense or discretion on a general call in the game, to adjudicate on what is deliberate or not is a recipe for success.

They do it at the moment. The 4-5 penalties in a row is fucked to watch. Instead of them waiting for 4-5, after the first penalty the ref should say to the captain to cut out the shit, or someone will sit down. This will make it a much quicker game and stop all the penalty goals.

Looks like refs to start penalising players trying to milk penalties by intentionally passing it into offside players.

  8. Wilson SB Wilson

They're sin binning for repeated infringements not deliberate infringements.

  9. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

We all know the repeated infringements are deliberate ya fucking internet he-man.

Gemmell, there are only two ways your proposal goes. Either the referees stop blowing penalties for fear of having 15 sin binnings a game. Or, well, yeah we have 15 sin binnings a game.

The vast, vast majority of penalties are deliberate. It's fairly uncommon to get penalised for holding down when you weren't trying to hold the cunt down. It's rare to get penalised for being offside, when you weren't trying to be offside or too lazy to be onside. And so forth. But these are not considered professional fouls unless in a try scoring situation. The term professional foul is a misnomer and should be removed from the rulebook and referees interpretations. The term should be "infringment preventing a likely try."

As for dealing with infringements inside the 20, they've just gone way overboard. It needed a slight tweaking. Now they're blowing 4 penalties and then binning people and your answer is just start binning players after 1? Dude...

-15 Penalty differential for the Tigers - worst in the comp unsurprisingly.

Kind of expected tbh, we've had a pathetic run with the refs this year, but it hasn't been killer. Of the 5 games we've lost, only 2 were really affected by it.

North Queensland being so bad despite having a differential of +25 is shocking lol.

I legitimately believe NQ would've done better having received less penalties on the attack. They're really a prime example of a team suffering from all the repeats of it going back to Play 1 and a set start. I think it's why they decided to just start banging over goals. It'd be interesting to see if they scored on plays 4-6 more than other teams last season - I suspect they did.

I think by "deliberate penalties", he means deliberately giving away a penalty as opposed to deliberately doing the action that results in the penalty but hoping to get away with it.

Their inability to adapt to having to repeat sets like that is alarming. The trend of them waiting for plays 4 and 5 to put something on is extremely predictable on top of what plays they actually use.

Yeah fair enough but I don’t think it’s an easily made distinction by an onfield referee. Sometimes it is but a lot of the time it’s not. Saying all penalties inside the red zone are deliberate in the sense of done with the intent of giving one away or not caring if they do, is far too broad a brush imo.

Lukic, maybe your team is lacking discipline...Why is it always the refs fault?

  17. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Kind what Cribb says. We all know what I mean with the intentional penalties inside the 10. I'm talking about the cunts that hold the ball as the attacking player is trying to get up and play it, or holding the player down an excessive amount because they know their line isn't set. If a player knows he will be put in the bin if he holds in the ruck too long, he won't. Could be worth bringing in the 5min bin.
