How? He is the best 5/8 in the country behind Thurston.

You can’t drop Munster after one of the better debuts in Origin history. Next year’s form may change things but not at this stage.

I wouldn’t be waiting too much longer before blooding Latrell Mitchell were I NSW. He’s still got some rough edges and has a lot to learn but fmd he could tear us a new arsehole. Him and Bird in the centres is very fearsome. Turbo on the wing, man...

  4. Alec AD Funkotron

Tom should be fullback ASAP IMO. Though him being their best winger probably keeps him on the wing for the time being.

  5. Magic AJ Parker

Still think Latrell is 12-24 months but if the only alternative is a post NFL Hayne then I wouldn't be completely against selecting him.

Bryce Cartwright is the interesting one for me this year.

Entering his 5th season of First Grade @ 23years of age, had a real write off year in 2017. But should really start to show some signs of development that he's ready for Origin.

Not sure where he will play for the Panthers but I think Wade Graham & Josh Jackson's position's in the squad are definitely up for grabs.

Cartwright is exactly the sort of selection that will give QLD a good look in next year imo. Yeah he’s got amazing natural ability but he is one of the worst defenders in fg as far as forwards go.

I wouldn’t even pick him off the bench.

  8. Cribbage RG Cribb

Cartwright had a real chance over the last offseason to work on his defence and discipline and push for a spot on the back of what he did in 2016, but he didn't do that and was instead fucking awful all season. I know he was dealing with lots of personal stuff, but he's a long way away from selection right now IMO. I'd sooner leave him out of the Penrith side than I would pick him for NSW at the moment.

Why would Graham and Jackson's spots be up for grabs?

  10. Cribbage RG Cribb

Graham had a poor series and Jackson isn't very good in general.

Jackson's spot probably isn't actually up for grabs though, because his Origin performances keep getting massively over-rated.

  11. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

Yeah lol he was motm in a losing side in Game 2 which was a fucking joke.

  12. Cribbage RG Cribb

I won money on that. :p

I had McGuire too and was holding out hope that he got it, had completely given up on Jackson.

Latrell would be a bad choice at centre for NSW at this point of his career, looks very promising but I want to see it maintained over a longer period.

One of the big things they need to fix is stop trying to use Frizzell up the middle, especially with Jackson on the edge. Looked a million times better when they switched them over.

I wouldn't be picking Cartwright bar a huge start to 2018, I tend to agree with Cribb that he's closer to getting dropped from Penrith than he his cracking NSW based on 2017. He's at a huge cross roads.

I've said it before and will say it again that I think the key selection will be Peachey on the bench. He's beyond a perfect fit and has shown how dynamic and versatile he is over a number of seasons, offers spark and cover a plenty.

I'm no where near the avid NRL follower I used to be, but I think I'd be hoping for something like:

    1. Tedesco
    2. Trbojevic
    3. Bird
    4. Hayne/Tedesco/Lafai/????
    5. Mansour
    6. Moylan
    7. Cleary
    8. Woods/RCG
    9. Peats
    10. Vaughan
    11. Frizzell
    12. Cordner
    13. Trbojevic

    14. Peachey
    15. Fifita
    16. Graham
    17. RCG/Merrin

I'm not sure how I feel about Woods, but I really want Fifita coming off the bench and don't love the idea of two rookie props starting in RCG and Vaughan. I don't really trust Mansour but I'm drawing a bit of a blank on the other centre/wing combo so can sort of see where MF is coming from re: Latrell. I've always been a huge Tim Lafai fan and I actually thought Dylan Walker was much improved in 2017 from the Manly games I saw, then there'd be my old favourite of Tedesco to centre, Hayne fullback.

I don't mind the idea of Dugan on a wing, but he's fucked up more than enough for me to put a line through him.

Knowing how NSW teams tend to turn out I think the following a fairly likely, although there'll have to be some kind of bizarre bolter knowing nsw selectors. I'm hoping a line has been put through Dugan but I doubt it.

    1. Tedesco
    2. Trbojevic
    3. Dugan////////////Walker
    4. Hayne
    5. Mansour//////////Cotric
    6. Maloney//////////Moylan
    7. Cleary///////////Maloney
    8. Woods
    9. Peats
    10. Fifita
    11. Jackson
    12. Cordner
    13. Frizzell

    14. Bird
    15. Klemmer
    16. Trbojevic
    17. RCG

    18. Merrin
    19. Vaughan

  14. Cribbage RG Cribb

I like your team but I'm not sure why you're dropping Klemmer .

  15. Sultan Pepper HG Emm

That's a total brain fade. I was fucking about cutting and pasting for ages. Solves my RCG/Vaughan starting dramas.

  16. Magic AJ Parker

Cleary's so far from being ready for SOO IMO.

Not to mention selecting him so young could have a big adverse effect. Just let him develop in First Grade for the next few years...

  17. Sultan Pepper HG Emm

We probably have damaged enough halves by getting them in there too early, I've been more impressed by Cleary at this stage of his career than any other youg half though.

I've actually thought Maloney has been our most dangerous looking half for quite a while and he's experienced enough now not to be over awed etc but the missed tackles and penalties are beyond a joke at some points though. I could certainly handle him getting the nod, the other one I'm still a big fan of is Aidan Sezer, think he's a classy player.

  18. Toolman TR Man

I think Maloney will play 7 and 6 will be between Moylan and Moses. But it is Fittler so he may select Pearce at 7 again.

  19. Toolman TR Man

Fittler strikes me as the type to try Hayne at 6 as well.

  20. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

lol yeah Hayne at 6, Hopoate at 1, thanks Freddy, that'll do nicely.
