Sorry Bruz, you faced me at my peptide peak.

S11 Vipers average with Welker, Weaver, Eggman, Blunder and Delonge is better :ninja:

Yeah. Looking at the stats I'd pretty confidently say that if you did a combined batting average of the top 11 minus combined bowling average of best 5 bowlers that that RAys side would come up trumps. Which is odd given that we didn't finish the season in 1st place. Colesy being banned a lot didn't help matters.

Your quotient (team batting average divided by team bowling average) through the season was 1.5 which is definitely the best on record. Quotient wasn't calculated properly in seasons 1-4 so someone could have beaten you there but only the Season 11 Vipers (1.42) have really got anywhere close in the eight seasons that were calculated.

    Worst Bannerman Shield spooners?

Reckon Season 11 Sticky Wickets have to take that title. They had lost every single game of the season going into the last round and had only even managed to jag first innings points once. They won in Round 18 but it was still truly abysmal; I think there were serious debates over whether they'd beat the Somestars or not.

The Heads-Howe Somestars were pretty gun tbf.

  8. MrPrez CM Dyer

    Heads/Howe/Himannv/Downes/me ( :ninja: ). Was pretty sick.

Did you guys choke the final or am I imagining that?

    They sure did.

Their Quotient was 1.54 that season.

That horrible first innings bowling from Dyer

    amazing stuff

Best side to not win the BS?

Thinking either the Clones S7 or the Pumas last season here,

I seem to recall the Allstars finishing third in a season way back before we had semi-finals in a season where I actually thought they were the best team; definitely the best team to not make the final. I think I introduced the semi-final the following season as a response to that.

Were the S8 Knights actually good or are they a side where you look back on a scorecard now and go "that's a pretty great side" because they've got players who've become really good but weren't necessarily that good at the time?

  16. 99* JJ Ritchie

I still laugh at your response to our first innings against them when we scored 680 or so.

Bit of both I think. We did win the ALC that year but IIRC a lot of the better players didn't join up until mid-season and were generally rather inexperienced. Going back on stats it looks like we were carried by Dorn to a reasonable extent, at least early on. So not really as good as the Somestars S11 or Fangs S12, as much as I wish we were :p.

They were pretty good; won the comp and had a bunch of new players do well.

They seemed more special at the time because the ALC was changing from a comp that it was pretty much always embarrassing to be playing in into something that a whole bunch of active new players followed with interest and cared about the results of, and the Knights were kind of the biggest example of that. Lots of ALC teams are that sort of standard now, but back before S8 the ALC was mostly something mid-season signups, inactive players and players really out of form played in, and no-one really cared who won because it was just for individuals to make BS cases. They transformed the comp in a way.

Innings and 339 runs  It wasn't like the Saders were that great that season either, probably the most unexpected massacre barring the S4 final.

Ritchie batting 8 and hitting a 50 definitely the most embarrassing part IMO.
