25-man Kangaroos Four Nations Squad

    Lacks Mogg.

  2. Magic AJ Parker

You'd think so... I doubt they'll pick Smith, Slater & Inglis though. Usually it's used as a fringe/emerging players squad.

  3. Speirz DG Speirs

Would've thought it'd be a perfect time to try and work Smith and Gidley into the side, which is what I assume they'll do for the tournament itself.

lol, Boyd has been playing fullback so no wonder. **** you're a clown.

No problem with Weyman over Hannant, though I would still pick the latter.

Bullshit. He did SFA in the WC, especially in the final. We will always disagree about his 09 Four Nations, due to the fact that I value errors and penalties, and you value ball hogging.:whip: The number of runs that all the other forwards take is always lower when Gallen plays and it has nothing to do with the others being lazy or fatigued.

We all know his Origin career has been a train wreck, though after reading you next post to Ged, clearly you don't think it's very important any more.

I don't have a problem with Lyon over Tonga, given that Lyon is a right side player (even with Tonga's ability to move over). I can't say I agree with Lyon over Tate though. Tate's career at Origin and Test level is far better.

I don't pick on quotas either.

You forfeit all rights to complain about other people being biased. When did David Williams do anything wrong playing for Australia? It's lower standard ffs. Why should club football matter but not Origin?

    Biggest clown on Cricsim.

  7. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Nope. They picked Tunza in it a few years back to get him match fit.

He's played all of three origin games, where his side got belted in all three. He never got into any of the games and neither did any of our outside backs as we were hammered up the middle all the time. To say that Morris shouldn't be in the Australian side based on a lacklustre origin series is ludicrous.

Completely false. NSW were leading by 5 with 7 minutes to go in Game 3. And it was 16-14 with 20 to go in Game 1.

Never got into the games? When he was given the chance to he ****ed up - In game 3, Hayne put it on a platter for him to score a try and he dropped it. In Game 2 Cooper got him on the outside and he kicked it straight away to Slater.

NSW getting flogged in Game 2 doesn't mean he can't play poorly - His defence in that match was disgraceful.

To say Origin shouldn't count because his side got beaten is what's ludicrous. You're just a biased, idiot Dragons fan.

It is important. But if someone is good at Test level and poor in Origin.. then they're still going to be good at Test level, which is what we're picking the team for. There's no point picking someone who would be worse at the level you're picking him at than another player just because he'd be better at a higher level. Picking a team for a Test match - what they're likely to do in a Test match is what counts. Origin is a good pointer to this, usually, but if a player's had a mixed or poor Origin career but still been good at Test level, there's little reason to believe that will change, particularly when they've been playing in very poor Origin teams

    Ged does though.

How do you know they would be worse if they've never played? Your methodology results in picking someone like Gallen, over Harrison even though the former has a dud Origin career, and a superior Test career simply because the latter has never played Test RL.

You ought to be picking Kite and Bailey (were he available). By your rationale they are more likely to play well than Weyman and others.

Hmm, assuming they pick the team at 'full strength' and the top eight doesn't change, I'd go with this:

    1. Jarryd Hayne
    2. Nathan Merritt
    3. Willie Tonga
    4. Greg Inglis
    5. Josh Morris
    6. Johnathan Thurston
    7. Cooper Cronk
    8. Luke Douglas
    9. Cameron Smith
    10. Matt Scott
    11. Nathan Hindmarsh
    12. Willie Mason
    13. Paul Gallen

    14. Kade Snowden
    15. Tim Mannah
    16. Dave Taylor
    17. Kurt Gidley

That's actually an awesome team IMO; it'd comfortably take New South Wales. They won't pick that though; they'll give emerging players like Dugan etc a run, and they won't bother Hindmarsh or Mason.

  15. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

    Shillington?

  16. Julian BJ Taylor

TLL will be there and Dugan is better than Hayne with a halves pairing like that in any case. Players like Thurston, inglis, Smith etc etc wouldn't be interested I wouldn't think.

Because Gallen's best is a lot better than Harrison's best. Gallen hasn't managed to transfer his ability to Origin football yet, but he's done it at Test level (IMO - now I know you disagree but when debating this particularly theory you do have to let that go :p). The fact that I was picking a team to play New Zealand compounded matters because I wanted to go for a bigger pack.. against GB I'd actually play both of them and use Myles as a front rower.

Unless Harrison is going to play better at Test level than he does at Origin level and club level, then I'd prefer Gallen. I know you disagree with me about Gallen's Test exploits and that's fine, but I thought I'd explain my theory a bit - which of course only works if you think Gallen has played well for Australia.

As for Kite, I actually considered him strongly, but I think he's declined as a player. If I thought he was as good as he was when he was playing Tests I'd have picked him ahead of Weyman or Hannant. The same applies to Ryles. Bailey definitely would have been in my squad if he was available.

    IMO.

    Josh ****ing Morris?

  19. Julian BJ Taylor

Luke Bailey is awful. Really, really soft IMO.

Forgot to consider Canberra's forward pack for some reason. Shillington in for Snowden.. TLL probably in for Mannah or Douglas too.
