Because Mannering is not a great captain. Great player but not really cut out for captaincy imo. Simon himself and management of the club obv agree.

I would have preferred a kiwi captain but don't think anyone's really putting their hand up, so am prepared to reserve judgement on Hoffman until we're well into the season.

    Didn't Mannering stand himself down?

  3. Fiery GR Smith

Yes he did. Edited my post because it did sound like it was purely a managerial decision. I doubt they objected at all to his wish to stand down tbh. Nobody wants a captain who doubts himself or who's heart's not in the job and is reluctant to continue.

    How does that work?

Off to the Warriors Dragons game today. Pretty hot in Nelson. Strong line ups for both teams.

Hot dogs were good and the chick in front of me had epic side boob.

    St George look pretty good.

  12. Magic AJ Parker

    Same...

That scoreline suggests the boys might need to hit the tackle bags. Or did they just not bother trying to tackle to prevent injury?

Hard to take absolutely anything from these warm ups. (Although that might just be a convenient thing to say in this case)

Really hot conditions. 30 degrees c in Nelson is burn your skin off heat. Johnson looks a fair way off. Tui RTS Kata looked decent in the backline. St George really impressed me, I think Mann is gonna gun it at FB this season, Dugan at centre was good and Aitken is a solid unit out wide. Old Rusty Packer hit it up strong.

Awesome, have Mann as my backup FB in fantasy ;).
