Canes paying $2.50 is definitely worthwhile. Chiefs haven't been the greatest in recent weeks, New Plymouth will predominantly be supporting the Canes IMO too. I can see why the odds are the way they are (SBW back, Nonu not playing) but Lee-Lo has been filling the gap when needed pretty well. The Canes already securing 1st could play in their heads a bit but regardless I reckon this should be a cracker and $2.50 is too hard to deny.

Received a $30 free bet, that's going on the Canes tbh.

Hmm Canes lineup for Saturday isn't looking the best, Barrett is out completely and they've decided to put Ardie Savea and Broadhurst on the bench - 2 standouts, don't get me wrong Shieds, Gibbins, Vito (starting trio) is decent but Ardie Savea has been a class above, so maybe a lil weaker there. Abbot starts ahead of Broadhurst which well might disrupt our lineup a little but hopefully not too much lost. I'm glad they've decided to put Marshall in at the 10 (no choice) with Milner-Skudder slotting back at FB and Jane on the wing, so our starting backline is looking good (Lee-Lo in for Nonu obviously but he's been solid too). Things get pretty weak with our backs on the bench, Frae Wilson a player who I think is lucky to even play NPC - he's fucking awful, Halaholo who is very inexperienced at this level and played awfully when he came on for his debut a few weeks back - was explosive for Southland though so a lot of potential if he has a good game - if he's needed and Sam McNicol - another
    inexperienced dude.

We should be alright if our starting backline remains fit for most of the game and gets good ball, no concerns there, however how Lee-Lo covers SBW is another big factor - Smith can't do it all. James Marshall should slip into 10 relatively well - he's been solid enough there for us this season.

So yeah should be interesting, not our absolute strongest team possible but our starting team is solid enough - just that backline bench that worries me a lil. Also the fact we've confirmed 1st could get into the heads of the Canes, regardless it should be a cracker. I ain't denying I was more positive of winning in our 1st Chiefs encounter prior to the game than this one, really depends.

Annnnnd just looked at the odds - Canes now paying $2.75 which doesn't surprise me given the lineup, I do think the bookies are valuing the Chiefs a lil too highly though. I'm not saying go put your house on the Canes but value wise a few dollars on the Canes (and Crusaders - $2.60) is definitely worth it, or the handicap if you want to play it a lil safer. The Chiefs haven't been that consistent recently and it's not like they have Cruden either.

Interesting, Stormers have picked a B side for their match.....you'd think they'd wanna try and secure 2nd??

    Highlanders
    Rebels
    Crusaders
    Canes
    Tahs
    Bulls
    Sharks

Saturday has a thriller in store for us, first Savers v Brumbies then Chiefs vs Canes. Have chosen the Crusaders as they're fielding basically their strongest team, 11 all blacks and all. Definitely worth jumping on those $2.60 odds for them IMO and the handicap. Canes do me proud also :) ideally want the Highlanders to finish above the Chiefs so they can have a home quarterfinal which will probably be against the Chiefs.

Start of the week I would have picked the Stormers but the team they're fielding is a bizzare decision.

Saders an upset rego? What about sharks? I will look up shortly

  12. Rego RS Hutchinson

What classifies as an upset? Over $2.50? If so the Canes are too - odds have moved out to $2.87!!!! And I just found out Sam Cane and Hika are out.....that forward pack isn't looking that great, solid but nothing amazing. Honestly I'm baffled at such large odds for the Canes, I understand the SBW factor and the Chiefs being favs but not by this much. If I was a bookie I'd have the Canes at $2.10, Chiefs $1.61 tbh.

Sharks are mass favorites BTW, Stormers are fielding a B side for god knows what reason.

canes and crusaders both less than $2.50 on the tab head to head at least when I checked just now

Jesus and people wonder why I don't bother with the TAB, Bet 365 has way better odds.....

Notably with the draw inclusive but the draw no bet option is still paying only 10 cents less...

Just for clarity's sake officially the saders and canes will not be upsets this week.

:) Crusaders too good as expected, I had a lot of money on them (odds were too good) I'm rich :D Canes to win now (or lose by less than 7) and I'll be even richer.

Ryan Crotty made a massive difference and Kieran Read actually turned up.

Tipping contest tied up now. If the Canes win then you take the lead. My entire reason for tipping the Chiefs is that it is in Taranaki and they tend to cheer for who they are told to cheer for, so this will be a home game for the chiefs even though it used to be Canes' territory.

Chiefs backline will just be good as the Canes.

The forwards will be in favour of the Cane's but forward play doesn't matter too much in this year's comp. I think our wingers may be in better form and that could be the difference.

    Go Chiefs.

I wouldn't write off the Canes backs, bench wise yes but otherwise we're not looking too bad. Lee-Lo just needs to turn up and Marshall needs to be solid and we'll be fine. I read an article the other day saying that Canes jerseys have been outselling the Chiefs 5 to 1 in the Taranaki region in weeks prior to this game.....so I think at the least it'll be a 50/50 crowd. Regardless it'll be a goodie and quite nice the Saders won so I profit for the night regardless (I have other bets on other than the win too) and nothing really riding on this game for us.

    I hope SBW smashes Lee-Lo

The deciding factor for me in backing the Cheifs is Weber. Watch his work Rego.
