Pick Your World Cup Squads

Yeah but I wanted Charles Piutau in there and a couple of others so I just canned some boring forwards. You don't want me as an AB selector trust me... there'd be no Dan, Ritchie would just scrap in but he'd be gone 10 seconds after the final hooter...

Argh, I agree so much with some of these statements but I can just see them picking Messam and Harris tbh. I feel sorry for Vito tbh. If anything a couple of injuries will probably decide/ make it easier for the selectors anyway.

If he's fit Foden's covering of scrum-half could see him make the squad, IMHO.

In tournaments squad players who cover a multitude of positions have a preceived value that's maybe in advance of their actual value.

It's why I see us maybe only taking three specialist locks (Lawes, Launchers and Parling) with Croft and Easter nominally covering the fourth spot.

  4. Howe JHF Howe

The latter point has legs but I don't see Foden going. He's been out of the squad and Saxons alike for a while now.

I agree with that second row. Massively harsh on Attwood though

Yeah agreed. Especially considering Cipriani/Slade, Watson, Nowell and May can all cover 15 in the event Brown gets crocked. I just wouldn't take a specialist 15 I think it's superfluous

  6. Howe JHF Howe

I wonder if his ability to play 10-15 and kick would be enough to see Chris Wyles make the squad

  7. BoyBlunder BOY Blunder

Is he even eligible? He has 45 USA caps

  8. Howe JHF Howe

Well exactly, I mean hypothetically. He is pretty much English so could have easily tried to play for England instead.

  9. BoyBlunder BOY Blunder

He has English folks but grew up in the states i think. I don't think he'd get in now if he suddenly legitimately switched allegiances now because I don't think Lancaster's going to look beyond anyone who's played in the last 2 years at this stage.

If we were rewriting history it's certainly a possibility considering the amount of changes we've had on the wings over the last couple of years

I imagine the squad size may go to 31 due to the extra prop on the bench, so you could stick with 5 props but you are really going to need a utility forward and a back. Croft won't make it, so as others have said it may open the door for Eater to cover No8 and lock. Or drop a back row and have Lauchberry play 6 if required.

  11. Howe JHF Howe

Lawes would play 6 well before Launchbury.

  12. Madness B Morganpola

They've tried Lawes at 6 and it didn't go well so I think they would try Launchberry but to be fair things would have to be going wrong injury wise to end up with a second row having to play 6 in the RWC.

If they need to cover then move Robshaw to 6 and bring in Kvesic

  13. Jabba HJ Bots

    Cruden out for WC

  14. Gazza GJ Weaver

At least we have 3-4 others who can take the role

  15. Jabba HJ Bots

    Don't trust DC at all

  16. Starris ER Starris

    This.

and I want slade and Barrett in there.
No doubt it'll be a position other teams target.
Dc is a walking injury these days and at the rate he's going he may not even make the cut.
Saders don't even trust to play him at ten.

  17. Jabba HJ Bots

I think we could still win with Slade at the helm that's how good Aaron smith is

  18. Fiery GR Smith

    I trust DC.

  19. Gazza GJ Weaver

Would like Barrett to take the starters spot over carter

  20. Hurricane JD Hurricane

This. Carter needs another 20 Super Rugby games under his belt at number 10 to come back into the mix. He is talented and you can see glimpses there but he is as rusty as an old door nail.

Right now he doesn't deserve to be in a 30 man squad based on form.

Barrett also in his brief chances at number 10 for the ABs has not shone.

Perhaps he is not used to the pace of the game at that level. I can't quite figure it out. His style of game is very suited to international rugby.
