Good test match - been a while since we've had one.

Nah bugger off. We caused so many needless mistakes; not releasing the ball, missing easy tackles, knock ons, bad scrumming technique.....

    Harsh, IMHO.

Wobblies versus Yarps last week was a good test.

First couple of test on our tour were decent too.

Jeez, first attack and yer Argies are over. Great pace from Montero.

Sanchez adds the extras and Los Pumas lead. Weird how a country whose football team I actively despise has such a game and likeable union side.

Not watching the game but is the Aussie scrum getting monstered?

  5. The Boy Brumby ZJ Brumby

Nope, took a pen off the Argie front row about five mins back, in fact.

Two tries Foley has butchered in as many minutes.

Poor options from a team's stand off.

The jolly decent chaps play union, eh?

No one in GC gives a fuck about this game.

Ha, quite so. Stout, yeoman hearted fellows to man. Not at all like those ghastly, cheating soccerball chappies.

Seriously tho, there's obviously something of the "rooting for the underdog" about Los Pumas, but they aren't a mere "pat on the head" side. Won at Twickenham semi-recently. I was there, in fact. :(

They play a hard brand of rugby; but it's New Zealand hard, not South Africa hard.

Yes Harsh but some truth in it.

This game took me back many years to my youth and many of the NZ fans online are calling it a true test match. Matfield put on a masterclass at the lineout until Bismark came on at least. It was classical line out jumping and was bringing a tear to my eye.
Vermeulen is the form number 8 in the world ATM. He intimidated the Australians last week and this week some of our men were thinking twice about taking it into contact. Or at least Can't think of any other reason why Retallick was doing pop passes all night instead of running it up himself. YOU ARE A FORWARD BRODIE.
As for JDV - just class all night long.

You are right England provided a stern test and tbf should have won. I guess I have a bee in my bonnett about those games with England's choices at wing: May in the first game and Tuliagi in the 2nd. Both choices I felt took the contest down a level.
England figure out a proper starting XV including wings who are defensively aware then we will struggle to beat them. They also need some of their role players to accept that they are role players.

As for last week - I felt Morne Steyn didn't let the game flow. Which is why I am pumped about pollard see my thread.

    I like this post

New ealand kicked us to death in the first half and our kicking in return was too poor to win any territory. It was only some good scrambling and the AB's inability to clear out our big loosies (and Habana) that kept us in the game.

In the second the back three got better dealing with the kicks and that got us into the game more. It was the line-out and poor "discipline" that cost us.

Vermeulen was the best player on the pitch. He just does everything around the park to such a great standard. Coetzee was also great in his supporting role.

Pollard delivered the performance that people have been talking about. Feel much more comfortable about him than I did before the game.

Willie Le Roux had a bit of a shocker. Needs to play with far more cavalier spirit to be effective.

Matfield was just as bad. There was an interaction just before half time when Garces had a word with Matfield about backchat. Following that there were two very tough "not-rolling" calls against Matfield and another against Etzebeth for sealing. All the calls were justifiable, but I can't help feel that Matfield's attitude didn't help getting the ref onside. Also the Four man line-out was not the work of a line-out genius. Fair enough that he backs himself and Etzebeth to out jump their opponents, but it leaves very little margin for the hooker to aim at.

Hurricane the All Blacks use Brodie to try and hold the inside channels before he pops it out the back, pops it short to another forward or runs it himself. He's a very skillful guy and they are using him bloody well to make metres over the gain line and also create space for the outsides.

Plus, its a fallacy that Retallick didn't run into contact. He did, and a number of times he was met with a number of Yarp forwards who were able to hold him up. Not many teams in the world can do this, but the Springboks are masters at preventing the ball carrier from hitting the ground.

Retallick played like a second number 10, he was acting as a ball distributor and a play maker. We don't need that.

Rumble the farking thing up. Play like a tough rough man that you can be Brodie not like some nubile * 1st 5.

    * World chosen deliberately.

Hahaha playing a rugby test at the same time as an all Qld rugby league finals match.

No wonder they only got about 10k

Yeah they are using him like a 10 a bit, personally I think too much but I see what they are trying to do. Cruden likes to play wider with more space which is why I like Barrett more who has more pace out wide and also better leg drive and physical presence up front

I think the new "role" for Brodie takes him further away from being an enforcer and I was getting my hopes up (after he did a cheap shot a couple of weeks ago) that he could be the new Thorne for us.

I accept and thank you for the explanation that Cruden wants to only get the ball out wide. That is a strike against him in my book.

So Crudens missed his flight after a night on the town... LOL

Opens a massive opportunity for Barrett now

  19. The Boy Brumby ZJ Brumby

Jesus, missed his flight. He must've really tied one on.

Or woken up in some random bird's house, I suppose.

    Silly boy either way.

What an idiot. Barret can and hopefully will have 2nd spot now behind D.C
