Fairly clear, even at this early stage, that Exeter will be standing tall, trophy in hand, come season's close. But what of the other dogs fighting over the scraps?

    I'll tell you:

    Exeter (c)
    Sarries
    Saints
    Bath
    Leicester
    Quins
    Sale
    Glaws
    Wasps
    London Welshish
    London Irish
    Newcastle.

Pop that in your pipe and take a draw.

    Tigers 12 places too low.

I reckon its a season of upsets at the bottom.

    End of regular season

    Leicester
    Sarries
    Bath
    Northampton
    Glaws
    Quins
    Wasps
    Exeter
    irish
    Welsh
    Newcastle
    Sale

Bath will come a cropper I reckon. Suffered from a lack of depth last year and haven't spent in the right areas. If Burgess is stuck in the centres it's a waste for them with three of their best players already there.

    Saracens
    Leicester
    Northampton
    Harlequins
    Bath
    Gloucester
    Exeter
    Wasps
    Sale
    Irish
    Welsh
    Newcastle

Gloucs not exactly being allowed to settle in then.

The guardian has a prem preview that's mostly entertaining because it features Eddie Butler regularly forgetting he's supposed to talk about the premiership.

At any given time Butler's prose is only one step away from exulting Wales and two from gay porn.

On the subject of previews, the Beeb has a pretty vague one but it does list all the new transfers for you.

It also asks several different people to name the final positions for each without giving any complete predictions, suggesting they think the table will finish like this

    1. Leicester, Northampton and Saracens
    2.
    3. Bath
    4. Harlequins
    5.
    6. Gloucester, Wasps, Sale
    7. London Irish, Exeter
    8.
    9.
    10.
    11. London Welsh, Newcastle
    12.

Great start, can't be said for Welsh though. Quite entertaining.

Hmm, thought that looked a little fishy. Guess it's one of those that barely ever come up that noone ever really thinks about/looks for it

What was up with LW's tackling? I can understand players who are unfamiliar with each other botching their attacks and maybe defensive patterns, but missing standard tackles?

Unfortunately, as an Exeter fan, I don't think that game tells me very much. We've got a long injury list and Welsh were completely undercooked. Looking forward to Tigers now for a realistic analysis.

I have absolutely no idea, was watching a bit yesterday and wondering how they could be so bad. I'd hope at least some of their 25 odd new signings have played rugby before.

Was disappointed when I read that Weepu was one of their signings, how things have changed for him.

I think that the lack of defensive pattern and structure had so many people out of position that they were struggling to make the tackle. Only need to be a fraction weak/slow/poorly positioned these days and the tackle will get blown away.

Well either that or they just couldnt be arsed for their new club!!

Bloody hell, see Sarries gave Quins a bit of a touch up at The Stoop. 39-0 at home is a proper shoeing.

Might be the year another team breaks into the top four. Probably Bath, so mixed feelings, but there it is.

Do get a feeling the Sarries are going to run away with it in the regular season but loose the playoffs again.

Think Bath will make top 4 instead of Quins who will sink into the mass fight for 5th and 6th with all the rest of the teams taking points off each other.

Leicester will continue to be disliked generally

I'm not convinced by Bath yet. They're away to Tigers and Saints the next two weeks, then Sarries at the Rec. After that we'll have a better idea where they are.
