So I just rediscovered one of my favourite songs of all time and have just listened to it about 5 times in a row.

I love Misty but Tillman seems like a fucking epic wanker.

Reckon you'd like this, at least subject wise.

It is a very Ariel Pink sorta morning.

Ha. I've seen a few bands at the Lighthouse in Poole. It's got some bizarre moving floor, so whenever you started moshing, it was like being on a very weak, very large trampoline.

But yeah, the acoustics are fantastic.

    Does anyone like Joy Division?

Yes. Plenty of people, I understand.

    I myself like them.

I'm not very familiar with them. What are some of you favourite songs? I like New Dawn Fades and Shadowplay.

Hard to narrow it down, really. Love Will Tear Us Apart is seminal. I always liked the song Warsaw too. I'm awful with albums these days (thanks, iPod) - I can't remember which album that's on.

Wasn't it their last single? Oh you mean influential on the genre and music itself, yeah?

Virtually every top 10 list of their songs I read has it as number 1. I'm not sure if I really like it or find it irritating. lol. If I wake up tomorrow and get the urge to play it, I'll know.

I sort of appreciate them but never really loved any of their stuff.

I've been on a massive okkervil binge (seeing them again next week) and I've even been pumping some I am very far and enjoying it. odd.

been shuffling soulwax when in the mood as well.

    I like this guy's stuff.

Yeah I really like Dandelion Wine and Big Black Car. Have you listened to the new-ish album?

  17. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

Nah I haven't yet. Have you?

And yeah, Big Black Car is great.

Hadn't seen that version of the song before. Very different. I love how intense everything from the camera work to the vocal performance itself is. Yeah I gave it a few listens last year after one of my music idols, Brian Fallon, was plugging it a lot as one of the best records of last year. I can't really remember too many specifics from it but it was decent. Certainly not This Empty Northern Hemisphere good but decent. The songs all sounded the same and very easily blended into one another if your not listening with close attention. There were no real standouts.

Otis Redding is so fucking good.

I know there are a few Gaslight Anthem fans on here so if anyone is keen, the singer has started a new group in Gaslight's downtime. Along with him it's got Ryan Adam's bass player, the drummer from Scissor Sister's, and Brian McGee from Plow United. They've been playing a few shows around New Jersey lately before Gaslight go to Nashville to record their next record. Here's a clip from an acoustic show they did recently. Kinda wish Gaslight would cool it quits and Brian Fallon just gives it a good run with this act. They've got an EP coming out later in March.
